Vision-based Input Interface

Professor Masatoshi Ishikawa and Dr. Takashi Komuro of the Tokyo University pitted their brains together to develop a new input method known as “vision-based Input Interface”. Through the use of a forward facing camera, all five fingers can be recognized by the camera, and will be used for various tasks such as typing, clicking and browsing through photos, with the hope of introducing more actions when practical applications are developed. The camera you see in

the demo above relies on a high-speed, 154 frame per second, sensor, but we wonder just how much more efficient the use of your mobile device would be with that sort of user interface.
