We mentioned the possibility of the Tivo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL DVRs before that, and it looks like we got it right, as TiVo has officially unveiled a pair of new ‘Premiere’ DVRs, the TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL, which will be replacing the existing TiVo Series 3 and TiVo HD lines. In case you were wondering, the most critical changes will certainly have to be its new pretty interface, the improved search operate, and additionally the new remote. While these two models aren’t called ‘Series 4’, the underlying technology has been named Series 4, though it shouldn’t matter much whether you don’t like going into details. whether you found searching for shows a pain before, you’ll be glad for the updated search interface, not to mention the new remote, which takes a cue from cell phone design,

and sports a sideways sliding QWERTY keyboard, making text input much easier.

The TiVo Premiere will be able to record about 45 hours of HD subject matter, and will cost $299.99; while the TiVo Premiere XL will be able to hold 150 hours of HD subject matter, and will set you back $499.99. Currently both units support antenna, digital cable and Verizon FIOS, but unfortunately not AT&T U-Verse or satellite providers, so you’ll certainly want to take that into explanation before making a decision on purchasing either one of these. Both should ship sometime in Q2 of 2010, so stay tuned (pun intended).
