You might have thought that Polaroid was done for a few years back, but now the company has come out and stated that it’s planning to enter the gaming scene, which is a big shift from its usual forte – cameras. Apparently that won’t be Polaroid’s first foray into the gaming scene, as the company offered a 15-in-1 game controller about two years back. The company now plans to offer sports packs and a sensor bar for the Wii, a microphone headset and battery packs for the Xbox 360, third-party wireless controllers for the PS3 and a dock for the Nintendo DS. Do you think that strategy will succeed? We do wish them the best of luck, though.

If you aren’t addicted to The Sims game yet, you might be very soon. EA has confirmed that the Sims 3 is bound for consoles, and is slated to hit the Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. The game won’t be just blindly ported to different console, as each version will boast some different features. Examples include the Nintendo Wii which offers an exclusive beach town for your sims to enjoy, or the DS version which makes full use of the touchscreen, allowing you to draw your own buildings and decorate the furniture via stylus input. The exact release instance hasn’t been confirmed, but you can expect it to be released around the fall.

The rumored Xbox 360 Slim is touted to be announced at E3 that year, where it will be smaller in size compared to the current behemoth while sporting a new black color scheme alongside Project Natal capability. It seems that there are plus whispers of a couple of Xbox 360 Natal bundles, but we guess we will need to wait until June for an official word from the folks at Microsoft instead.

Folks who own an Xbox 360 might be looking at an increased friends list sometime in the future. As you probably already know, Microsoft has pulled the plug on Xbox Live for the original Xbox a week or so back. Without having to concern about supporting the older system anymore, Microsoft product director, Aaron Greenberg, has mentioned that they’re now free to add more features without having to support old things. that gives them a new flexibility to offer more features to the Xbox Live community on the Xbox 360. One of the things that they’re looking at is an increased friends list by the current cap of 100 friends. While there isn’t any exact moment period as to when it will be released, it’s still nice to know Microsoft is still keeping an eye on that feature.

The folks by at Microsoft must be overjoyed to take in that sales of its Xbox 360 have surpassed the magical one million mark in Australia and New Zealand. To celebrate that achievement, they’ve come up with a customized Xbox 360 (which looks simply stunning), designed by Richard Taylor and the Weta Workshop. The console is being auctioned off at eBay to raise money for the David Peachey Foundation, and the winning amount for the console will additionally be matched up to $10,000 by Microsoft New Zealand for a donation to Cure Kids.

What you see here could very well be Microsoft’s upcoming Project Natal, where it comes complete with directions as spotted by somebody who was specially hired to analysis the system’s speech recognition capability. It does seem as though the Natal unit is called for to be plugged into the wall, as it does not look as though it will draw juice from the Xbox 360 itself.
