SanDisk has finally shipped its Xbox 360 USB Flash Drive for the Xbox 360 console, letting ordinary folks like you and I save games, download subject matter as well as access multimedia files without the need for a hard drive. that is pretty much a purchase for folks who want convenience right out of a box, since the SanDisk drive comes pre-formatted and shaves off precious minutes used to set it up by letting you play your favorite games right off the bat. Of course, those who want to save some cash can use existing speedy USB flash drives, but those will need to be properly set up before they can be used. You can pick up the Xbox 360 USB flash drive from SanDisk in 8GB and 16GB capacities which retail for $35 and $70, respectively. Each purchase will come with a one-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold as an added incentive.

Folks who own an Xbox 360 might be looking at an increased friends list sometime in the future. As you probably already know, Microsoft has pulled the plug on Xbox Live for the original Xbox a week or so back. Without having to concern about supporting the older system anymore, Microsoft product director, Aaron Greenberg, has mentioned that they’re now free to add more features without having to support old things. that gives them a new flexibility to offer more features to the Xbox Live community on the Xbox 360. One of the things that they’re looking at is an increased friends list by the current cap of 100 friends. While there isn’t any exact moment period as to when it will be released, it’s still nice to know Microsoft is still keeping an eye on that feature.

If you’re still addicted to Xbox Live on your old Xbox, you’d better enjoy it while you can, as Microsoft will be turning off the service for the original Xbox tonight, as was mentioned some date back. The move will pave the way for improvements for folks who are in the Xbox 360, as old limitations where your friends lists are capped at 100 citizens can be ditched. Of course, such a move would leave behind many owners of the original Xbox, but that’s the cost of moving forward. Will you miss the Xbox Live service on your Xbox, or are you substance to keep playing offline games on your aging console?

It seems that an update for shout of Duty: contemporary Warfare 2 will disconnect gamers from Xbox Live in the process, although that was but a momentary lapse in service since Microsoft has already fixed the issue. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any more other problems, but at least you can get your game on with your friends, no? The Stimulus Package as that update is known will throw in a grand total of five new maps to the multiplayer version of the game.

Mark April 6th on your calendars, boys and girls, since a new system update for your Xbox 360 will be happening by Xbox LIVE on that day, where you will finally be able to enjoy the wonders of USB Mass Storage Device support. Basically, that allows you to store profiles, saved games, demos and others on a USB flash drive, making it a truly portable solution. When connected for the first duration, the system will conduct a one day performance and integrity check to construct certain that drive performs flawlessly. Once done, you can opt to have just how much space you want to use on the device by the Xbox 360 (up to 16GB), while any remaining space can be accessed by your computer.

If you were wondering how gaming could be like on the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series, you’ll want to check out the video of Microsoft’s Eric Rudder, speaking at TechEd Middle East. A game that was developed in Visual Studio was showed off, and it could be played in Windows, Xbox 360, and a Windows Phone 7 Series prototype device. While the cross platform nature of the game is cool, the more interesting part is that you can save your place in one platform, and resume your game from another platform; so you could be playing the game on your Xbox 360, next get ready for work, and continue playing while you’re commuting to work in the train, pretty neat! Check out the video of it in action after the jump.

Microsoft just launched its Windows Phone 7 Series, a new version of its mobile OS that features a completely new user interface, based on the lessons learned with the Zune HD. By the way, that might be the greatest contribution of the Zune HD to the world… So how is Windows Phone 7 and should you keep an eye on it?

User Interface

Just like so many had hoped for the past year, Microsoft has been building upon its Zune HD experience (and possibly codebase) to supply a faster, more responsive user interface. Today’s demo was convincing, and while it was hard to judge without using the phone itself, things were were certainly fast sufficient! (The phone was connected to a big display via USB). I suspect that it will be comparable to the Zune HD and it is possible that Windows Phone 7 Series might actually be as responsive or more responsive than the iPhone 3GS.

The user interface is based on “tiles” that are visually simple to process and friendly for fingers. It is additionally consistent will all the applications, from the photo album to Xbox Live – it’s a clean break from Windows Mobile 6.x.

For HTC user interface fans: I think that it is dead. It has served its purpose, but although it is shiny, I’m afraid that Windows Phone 7 is better.

Microsoft just announced that they will no longer be offering Xbox Live services on the original Xbox from April 15th onwards. that means that from that day onwards, all of the original Xbox games – as well as those that see action on the Xbox 360 as well as by the Xbox Originals service, will no longer be able to have a lease of life online. One of the main reasons would be Microsoft evolving their Xbox Live service which could no longer manufacture allowances for games on Microsoft’s first console.

It seems as though Microsoft is ready to announce a release period for its Windows Mobile 7 operating platform. Rumor has it that the software itself will be available to Microsoft’s handheld hardware partners come that September, which would translate to Windows Mobile 7-based devices by the end of the year at best or early Q1 2011 at worst. Folks speaking other than English or common European languages will be disappointed, as those are the only languages catered to at that point in moment. Availability of the Asian localizations are tipped for a 2011 release, so take note whether you happen to live in that part of the world. Expect Windows Mobile 7 to ship with an improved user interface, Zune, Xbox Live and Silverlight support. We hope that Windows Mobile 7 will see Microsoft invent the most of it in what could be its Waterloo where smartphone OSes are concerned.
