Asus Express Gate can now be downloaded
March 19, 2010

At expanded last, the Asus Express Gate can now be downloaded onto your Windows-powered Eee PC netbook, although the 306MB download might be a pain to wait for whether you so happen to be working via a slow World Wide Web connection. Head on to http://www.support.asus.com to choose your Eee PC model before going ahead with the Asus Express Gate download. For the uninitiated, Express Gate enables one to use Web services including Skype while surfing the Web without having to boot up your machine completely, taking only a few seconds to start. Anyone given it a go already?

Android-powered Roewe 350 enters production
March 18, 2010

Are you a geek and would love to have an OS-powered vehicle? Look no further than the Roewe 350 from China which will be launched on April 23rd at the Beijing Auto Show. What makes the Roewe 350 so different from the rest? Well, it is powered by Google's own Android operating system, which in turn allows it to access the World Wide Web straight from your car while supporting chat functionality - not advisable whenever you're behind the wheel. It won't be a gimped OS since it will be Android 2.1, so we are interested to see just how the whole thing will pan out when available.

Nokia CS-12 Web Stick Headed For AT&T
March 17, 2010

While there isn’t any official word from Nokia or AT&T just yet, a recent FCC filing seems to indicate that Nokia’s CS-12 World Wide Web Stick might be headed for AT&T, as it features all the appropriate GSM and WCDMA bands needed for AT&T’s network. AT&T’s current network won’t be able to hit the CS-12’s 5.56Mbps speeds, as the network is still stuck on 3.6Mbps, but whether the connection is stable, it shouldn’t be that poor.

Witspad W8 Mobile World Wide Web Device
March 16, 2010

The Witspad W8 Mobile Web Device (MID) does look like a smartphone at first glance, something which hails from the HTC family of devices, but we guess we are wrong considering it lacks SMS support, which disqualifies it from being a full handset replacement. Hardware specifications include the Maemo OS, a 806MHz Marvell PXA 320 processor, a 4.3" touchscreen display, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS support, Wi-Fi connectivity and CDMA2000 3G connectivity. It is currently going for around $470 after conversion in China.

Human arm transmits broadband signals
March 16, 2010

Hmmm, some boffins from South Korea managed to use human skin as a medium to transmit input, with a recent experiment capable of touching the 10Mbps mark - putting many World Wide Web connections around the world to shame. that experiment relied on small, flexible electrodes to achieve such a aftereffect, and could possibly be developed into a new generation of medical devices which is capable of monitoring blood sugar or electrical activity in the heart. These devices will reduce energy needs for a monitoring network by about 90% compared to wireless devices running on batteries. Shame on you, copper wires!

Qi NanoNote fits snugly into pocket
March 16, 2010

The Qi NanoNote is one different device which is small adequate to cram into most pockets, as it comes with a 3" display at 320 x 240 resolution, featuring a clamshell design and a QWERTY keyboard that ups your productivity rate compared to a pesky alphanumeric keypad. Specially designed for thumb-typing, it can perform the most basic of computing tasks, so do not expect it to handle anything more complex than basic World Wide Web surfing and the ilk. Other hardware specifications include a 336MHz Xburst Jz4720 (MIPS compatible) processor, 32MB RAM, 2GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, speaker, microphone and headphone jacks. No concept on pricing for that Linux-powered machine though.

March 13, 2010

Considering the trend of cramming diamonds into Apple products, nobody should be surprised to see a Diamond iPad show up on the World Wide Web, much less from Goldstriker, the company which came up with the gold-plated iPod nano and Diamond iPhone 3G. that $19,999 iPad sports a diamond studded frame featuring 11.43 carats of diamonds, hand-set in a micro-pave styling. You’re currently able to place your order online to reserve one, so there’s nothing but your wallet and common sense to stop you from placing an order now.
