Wiimote controls Duke Nukem 3D

February 8, 2010

No, Duke Nukem Forever is going to remain just that - taking forever to come out, but whether you are still a huge fan of that trash-talking, all-action hero, next watching Duke Nukem 3D in action with the Wiimote ought to pique your interest. To form matters more interesting, Duke Nukem 3D is not running on some old computer, but is instead a by-product of Nokia’s N900 (read our review) hacking competition, where we hope to see that endeavor snatch a podium spot.

Wii Magic Stick Gives Your Wiimote An Analog Stick

Do you prefer an analog stick to play your games with, instead of the boring D-pad? whether the $60 Wii Classic Controller Pro is too expensive for you, you might want to try the $7 Wii Magic Stick for your Wiimote. The Wii Magic Stick is a cover that slides by your current Wiimote, and more or less allows you to control the D-pad in a manner similar to that of an analog stick. Interesting add-on, and as we mentioned, whether you’re on a low budget, that is probably one of the easier ways to get an analog stick on your Wiimote controller, aside from the Wii Nunchuck, of course.

Wii And PS3 Gun Controllers

[CES 2010] Want to get more serious about gaming on your Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3? These gun controllers from CTA Digital on show at CES will certainly give you a more realistic feel to your gaming sessions. Both have been labeled as sniper guns, though the PS3 model certain looks a lot like an AK-47. Apparently the sniper scopes are there for show, not for gaming accuracy (boo). The Wii version will require you to use your own Wiimote and Wii Motion Plus attachment, while the PS3 version will sport its own built-in joystick, D-pad, and doesn’t need any additional hardware (aside from your PS3). There isn’t any mention of when the PS3 gun will be available, but the Wii gun is already up for pre-order on Amazon for $39.99, and should start shipping on the 20th of Jan.

Apple Magic Wand Remote Patent Updated

Apple already has a patent on a Magic Wand of sorts, which allows you to control a media system via a device similar to Nintendo’s Wiimote. Could Apple be looking to release such as device for its Apple TV or iMac anytime soon? The news that Apple has recently updated that patent is certainly interesting, though unfortunately it won’t guarantee that Apple is going to actually release such a device anytime soon. Some of the updates include accelerometers on the device, which will certainly construct things more interesting. There is plus a photoshop-like application for its Magic Wand pictured; perhaps indicating that it could be used for drawing/doodling or similar desires? What do you think?

Wiiwaa offers new way to play

Everyone knows that the Nintendo Wii is one creative games console, but there seems to be more shovelware than quality titles of late. Well, the Wiiwaa offers something different as it will target the kiddy market, where one is called for to stuff a Wiimote down the animal's throat. No, it does not involve any sword swallowing in the virtual world, but shaking and bouncing the puppet around will aftereffect in replicated movements instead. Guess there is now more reason to pick up additional Wiimotes for the home whether you happen to purchase Wiiwaa.
