chromeTouch, an add-on that will help you navigate through Google Chrome by dragging or flicking any part of a web page, brings the smartphone web experience right to your tablet or touch-sensitive display computer. It is nice to see chromeTouch throw in additional settings that makes it easier for use on devices with small screen real estate including tiny tablets and netbooks, with options to hide the scrollbars altogether. Looks pretty neat, but will it catch on with the masses?

The Archos 7 Web Tablet has a very high chance of shipping sometime next month, where that 7″ device that runs on the Android OS while featuring a full touchscreen display is going for 180 Euros where its 8GB version is concerned, while there are whispers of a 2GB model that will hit the market for around 149 Euros which we frankly think isn’t worth your money. Do you think the Archos 7 Web Tablet is capable of putting up a decent fight against the Apple iPad as well as other tablets?

Folks who own the Archos 5 Android-powered Web tablet experienced a rather short-lived joy today – first, they received a new 1.6.08 firmware update which fixes a handful of existing features, only to have Archos pull the update from its website later on. Apparently, that was due to a last-minute major issue with the Web Browser, and they will spend the next few days flushing gremlins out of their system. Hopefully Donut will be available shortly after that before we roll into 2010 as it would be great to end the year on a good note.

The Archos 5 tablet has received its latest firmware update, bumping up the version number to 1.3.07, where among the distant list of changes and fixes include improved support for MP4 and MKV videos, fixed playback resolution issues and fixed support for full screen playback of YouTube and YouTube HD composition. Apart from that, you can now output substance via the Archos 5′s TV-out capability via the battery dock or mini dock whether Standard Definition is your cup of tea, while HD videos can be handled through the HDMI mini dock and DVR station. The firmware update can be downloaded directly via its built-in device settings, or you can take the traditional manual updating route from the Archos website.
