British designer Alice Davies came up with the Virgin Media Laptop concept that offers a teaching tool that comes in a retro design, although it packs in contemporary day technology such as Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free moments – perfect when you need to demonstrate a concept or view using both hands for gesticulation plans, while laying the Virgin Media Laptop on the table comfortably. Typing can be achieved via a remote control as enlarged as it remains within working distance, while the built-in Virgin Media Broadband device makes way for fast World Wide Web navigation. It will probably rely on induction charging should that device be realized, doing away with the need for more wires. Do you think that will catch on?

If you happen to live in the UK and want a speedy World Wide Web connection, you might be pleased with news that initial trials by Virgin Media managed to deliver 50MB broadband to the Berkshire village of Woolhampton thanks to the use of telegraph poles. Homes that are hooked up to Virgin Media’s fibre optic network directly will be able to increase broadband speeds by by ten-fold compared to BT’s copper network. There is no word on a national rollout by Virgin Media yet, but you can be assured that when it is available, many more folks will jump aboard the torrent bandwagon.

Virgin Media has announced that they will be rolling out their 100Mbps broadband service in the UK before the year is by, where that speed is made possible courtesy of its fiber optic network that works in tandem with DOCSIS 3.0 cable access. Apart from that, Coventry will be plus priviledged to experiment its 200Mbps service which is plus underway in Kent at the moment. whether you want something lesser due to your more anti-BitTorrent lifestyle, next there are always 10Mbps, 20Mbps and 50Mbps services to choose from. To get an view on how much faster 100Mbps is theoretically, it will cut down the typical music album download moment from 1 minute 15 seconds to a mere 5 seconds.

Virgin Media’s upcoming music download service has been given an official name – MusicFish. According to reports, the service will be launching in July. In case you aren’t familiar with it, MusicFish will be a competitor to Spotify, and will be offering unlimited music streaming at downloads at £6.50 per month. There aren’t any details yet as to how the tracks will be delivered to the user, and that will certainly be one of the main challenges that MusicFish will face, particularly since most folks agree that Spotify’s success is largely due to its speed, ease-of-use, and its mobile applications. Will MusicFish be a success? Well, only date will tell, so let’s keep an eye on it, shall we?

LG has finally jumped aboard the Android bandwagon with its Intouch Max GW620 hitting the UK market in due instance. Unlike the Nexus One, that model comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard in the same manner as the Motorola Droid, where you are able to send out those text messages, tweets, emails and social media updates in a jiffy, depending on how fast your fingers will fly by the keyboard. You get motorized face-tagging to help you keep up to speed with new contacts (perfect for those with awful memory when it comes to associating faces with names). Hardware-wise, the Intouch Max GW620 does not disappoint with HSDPA and UMTS connectivity, GSM support, Bluetoothm and a 5-megapixel camera. We’re a bit wary of the relatively smaller display that stands at just 3″ with a low 320 x 480 resolution that pales in comparison to other Droid handsets. No word on pricing, but it will retail for £20 monthly on an unlimited details 24-month contract with T-Mobile and £22 a month for 18 months with Virgin Media.
