Hauppauge has rolled out its MediaMVP-HD Digital Media Player that will jump straight into the world of full High Definition, offering support for 1080p video via HDMI. Apart from that, you will plus find that it is equipped with a UPnP client capable of streaming shared photo, music, and video files from networked computers as well as other storage devices by an Ethernet connection. The USB port additionally lets you hook up a USB flash drive or external storage drive for additional playback from other sources. Other connectivity options include component, composite, and S-Video, where the Hauppauge MediaMVP-HD is tipped to hit the US market that summer for $149.99. Expect the hacker community to have a field day with that since it runs on Linux.

Google has finally made file transfer available in Google Chat, letting you transfer photos, documents and perhaps even small video files, although we are pretty certain that there is a file size cap attached to it as well. Apart from that, web users gain the ability to exchange files with other users of Google Talk without any problem at all. Of course, the most optimal of it all would be for file transfers to be supported via chat in Gmail.

Of course, the asking price is way higher than what one would normally pay for a standard webcam, but soon after again you get back so much, much more. Its internal memory can be further augmented with a microSDHC memory card. We are rather concerned with the lithium battery which has a life span of 1.5 hours though, so hopefully future iterations will see something done about it.

There are several sources in the industry that point towards Asus mulling by the inclusion of wireless capability to the PC-to-display streaming TF-600 media player from Taifatech which will see action in a set-top box. Should these reports hold water, next the extension ought to be able to introduce instant transmission of full HD subject matter from both standard wired Ethernet networks as well as by Wi-Fi. Apart from that, the streaming O!Play hub from Asus is additionally a very real candidate for that new feature, considering it currently plays audio and video files from a variety of connections such as USB, SATA, and Ethernet connections – having a wireless link would definitely complete it. So far, Asus has yet to comment on these rumors. What do you think?

Most camcorders come with just one lens to capture whatever is going on on the other side, but the Twin Video device features cameras that shoot both ways, alongside a couple of microphones. Whenever you start to capture a video clip of your choice, you are able to set which image within the picture-in-picture area, while the other will be the full-sized master. In addition, you can opt to split the display equally amidst both. Just what are some of the more practical uses of that aspect? For instance, you are able to conduct “interviews” with folks who want to see themselves in the video itself alongside footage of rollercoasters and merry-go-rounds. All video files are stored on SD/SDHC memory cards, where file transfer is done via USB (or by inserting the memory card into a card reader). No word on pricing, but the Twin Video ought to be out sometime later that year. Sounds like a fun summer device to own!
