Pictures of the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell running OS 6 surfaced a few days ago, though the quality of the pictures was so poor that they were more or less considered to be fakes. Now more pictures have surfaced, showing the phone much clearer, and seems to match up to those pictures as shown in the earlier leak. So do you think that we’ll be seeing a BlackBerry 9670 running OS 6 anytime soon, possibly on Verizon Wireless?

Verizon Wireless will be offering a couple of new handsets from LG that coming May, with the LG Fathom and LG Aloha being mentioned. The former will run on the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system and feature a touchscreen as well as a keyboard to give you the best of both worlds, while the LG Aloha looks set to be the more favored model considering the rising popularity of Android and the decline of Windows Mobile. We’re looking at Android 2.1 on the Aloha alongside a speedy 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera that does 720p video capture as well. No notion in pricing, but it would be nice to see how Verizon spaces the launch periods.

This is still very much in the rumor bin, but word is going around that the upcoming BlackBerry 9670 clamshell device might be a Verizon exclusive. According to the rumor, Verizon asked RIM to build such a device, according to their specifications, which included a clamshell anatomy factor, 5-megapixel camera and an updated user interface. whether the rumor is true, Verizon would have the exclusive rights to the 9670 in the US, while Vodafone would have a similarly exclusive deal by in Europe. The 9670 is designed as a hip device targeted at the younger generation and has apparently been told to hit a specific price point, which suggests that that phone might not break the bank, news that is very much welcome. Do you think that there is any truth in that?

Of course, we have no concept how much stock Verizon had on hand, but whatever it had, it’s already been booked. Latecomers will have to keep in mind that newer orders will ship by May 4th. Perhaps you’ll have slightly better luck at a Verizon Wireless retail store?

You can be certain that some folks were disappointed by the news that Google wouldn’t be offering its Nexus One on Verizon Wireless, not that the Droid Incredible isn’t a worthy alternative, but the good news for Sprint subscribers is that the Nexus One is still on track to be released on the nation’s 2nd largest CDMA carrier in May 2010. Of course, with the launch term (approximately) so close to the launch of the HTC EVO 4G, it’ll be interesting to see whether these two phones will eat into each others’ markets. Guess only date will tell, huh? Why not check out our Nexus One review in the meantime?

It was previously speculated that Google had dropped the Nexus One from Verizon’s lineup and now the search engine giant has confirmed that. As expected, the lack of the Nexus One on Verizon Wireless is due to the release of the Droid Incredible, which is considered the equivalent to the Nexus One and in some ways better. According to a statement from Google, that reflects the amazing innovation in the Android platform. Another benefit that the Droid Incredible has by the Nexus One is that it is sold in retail stores, along with a contract pricing of $200, instead of having to buy the Nexus One online only. It remains to be seen whether Google’s online-only marketing strategy will be considered a failure, as it doesn’t seem to have helped sales of the Nexus One very much, whether at all.
