T-Mobile is now seeling microUSB chargers that will not only juice up your cellphone, it additionally comes with another USB port that allows you to ability another USB-compatible device simultaneously – now how about that! Definitely not the brightest view to have come out of mankind so far, but at least it works and is practical particularly in that day and age where just about anything is able to be charged via USB.

PQI decided to roll out a USB 3.0 device for the masses in the mold of the CoolDrive U368, whre that model is capable of hitting info transfer speeds of up to 105MB/s, and even so that is not the limit since taking full advantage of the bundled TurboFlash USB software will be able to see another increase. One thing’s for certain though, the PQI CoolDrive U368 will not be that pocket-friendly (relatively speaking) when pitted against other USB flash drives that you’ve probably gotten used to by the years, no thanks to a 90.1mm x 22mm x 11.1mm measurement. While you can opt for the entry level 8GB model, there are plus other capacities to choose from whether you have deep pockets – we’re talking about 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. No concept on pricing or availability as at press moment, but expect to pay a premium for USB 3.0 flash drives at the moment until the technology becomes more commonplace.

The SyncBox that you see here lets you transfer notes from an USB device to another without the need for a computer to operate as a middleman, for example sending photos from your camera by to a USB flash drive. Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, it retails for €31.90. Heck, it even supports full disk copy and designated folder copy for added flexibility, and taking just a separate button to operate, you can’t get any more idiot proof than that.

Adrian Crenshaw has come up with a new programmable USB device that will identify itself as a USB keyboard, where it can be programmed to do your bidding. It is based on a Teensy board that will feature an ATmega32 chipset which retails for a mere $18. Apart from that, he plus threw in a set of DIP switches for easy in-field changes to the firmware. A built-in light sensor can be used to activate a command the moment a victim shuts off the lights in the office and left for the day. Anyone wants to give that project a go with their spare instance?

Onda has unveiled its latest VX550 portable media player which sports a display that is larger than what one would normally get, which is a 5″ screen at 800 x 480 resolution. While it can’t show 1080p videos in its full glory, the device can still output it by to a Full HD TV thanks to its HDMI port. You can plus hook up a USB device to that for quick file transfer and viewing. Supported video formats include RM/RMVB, MKV (H.264), AVI, MOV, FLV, MPG, VOB, DAT and TS. No notion on pricing or availability, although we suspect the former is going to cost a pretty penny.

Apogee’s Astro Drive A101 holds the distinction for being the smallest USB 3.0 device in the market at the moment, although we’re pretty certain that that is not a permanent situation and will change within the next couple of months or so. Capable of achieving read and write speeds of up to 180MB/s and 130MB/s, respectively, that USB flash drive will come in 128GB, 64GB and 32GB capacities although there is no word on pricing. Folks who are interested can pick from a couple of color choices for its case just to form a fashion statement at your next geek meet-up.

Let us start winding down the day with something more lighthearted – the Hello Kitty USB Companion. that 2.5″ tall USB device will plug into your computer through what else but a USB port, where it is capable of randomly responding and reacting to sound, including your voice as faraway as its microphone picks it up. Definitely not something to have whether you are about to hold a serious conversation with your superiors or clients. Would you fork out $40 for that?
