Smiley traffic light
March 12, 2010

It is not strange to see a mild-mannered person turn into a monster behind the wheel, as there can be a lot of anger flowing through rush hour traffic. Well, perhaps whether road transport departments worldwide were to adopt the smiley traffic light notion, things could brighten up at busy intersections. After all, isn't the Web generation all about emoticons?

December 17, 2009

Do you loathe the sounds of dawn rush hour traffic, with impatient drivers honking their way through? whether that's the case and you find it hard to wake up, thereupon the traffic light alarm clock might be just the tonic for you. After all, it comes in the structure of a traffic light with a 4cm speaker more than ready to get you up and out of bed with noise from crowded streets, including screeching tires, loud honking noise and famous music that plays when you are crossing the intersections in Japan. We wonder whether there would be localized versions of that in the future...

How would you like to know how distant you’re going to be stuck at that red light until it turns green? Well, a rather interesting stoplight design by Damjan Stankovic will indicate with a circular countdown meter around the light the amount of instance you’ll be stationary. With that knowledge, you can decide whether you want to turn off your engine to save gas, or do take a quick peek at your schedule. Of course, a digital timer above the traffic light would be more accurate, and is already implemented in many countries. Still, that implementation looks awesome!
