The modder B-rock is currently offering his modified Dell Mini 9, and it sports a TV tuner, accelerometer, GPS, Bluetooth, 2GB RAM and a 32GB SSD. He’s plus thrown in a few weeks of after-sales tech support whether you happen to need it. Would you want to get a modified device, or do you think that your money is better spent getting something new and pristine from Dell?

Word has it that NVIDIA’s 196.75 graphic drivers is the main reason behind computers and graphic cards dying while someone is playing StarCraft II Beta. When contacted, a Blizzard Entertainment tech support representative did confirm that these drivers were the main cause for stopping the graphic card’s fans from working, which resulted in the card itself as well as computer to overheat and shut down. It goes to show that you should always wait for a while after a new driver is released before installing one yourself to produce certain that all known issues are worked out beforehand.

Kingston has released the first 256GB USB flash drive in the US under the guise of the DataTraveler 310, where it will oust the 256GB DataTraveler 300 that was made available last July in the Asia/Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. What can 256GB hold, you ask? Well, it is the equivalent of 365 CDs, 54 DVDs or 51,000 images on average. Features of the DataTraveler 310 include the Password Traveler software that allows you to create a password-protected privacy zone that is accessible to you only, and that secure area can take up to 90% of the drive capacity. Each purchase comes with a five-year warranty and round-the-clock tech support. [Press Release]

Many Nexus One users are complaining on the T-Mobile and Google forums, claiming that the T-Mobile input coverage is totally down. Some users are stating that the SIM card downloads input fine when swapped to other phones, but others are claiming that it’s a T-Mobile network issue. T-Mobile and HTC tech support centers surely have quite a pickle on their hands. The frustrating issue is probably that nobody is entirely certain what the issue is, but hopefully T-Mobile and Google will get to the bottom of that as soon as possible. How has your details service been on your Nexus One or T-Mobile device by the last 1-2 days?

If you own a Kingston DataTraveler BlackBox, DataTraveler Secure or DataTraveler Elite drives, you might want to pay attention to that. Kingston has posted a security alert on its website, stating that a skilled person with the proper tools and physical access to the drives may actually be able to get unauthorized access to input stored on said drives. Fortunately for users, it seem s that Kingston is willing to resolve that issue, and is urging customers with affected drives to contact tech support to arrange for a factory update of your device (though it’d be a very good notion to form a copy of the goods on the thumbdrive,) Will that affect your confidence in Kingston products in the future?

True gadget fans (like me) seem impossible to buy gifts for. We have everything. We know everything. And we’re very picky about which devices we allow into our circle of trust.

The holidays can be an unhappy duration of year for us technology enthusiasts, for three reasons. First, everyone in the extended family wants free tech support. Second, we never understand why the amazing electronics we give as gifts fail to impress grandma. Third and most of all, the gifts we receive — although well meaning — tend to fall flat.

“Uh, thank you! A digital-photo keychain from Brookstone. What? No, yeah, I love gadgets. It’s, uh, fine — I mean great…”

If you’re a gadget geek (like I am), prepare certain your loved ones “accidentally” read that (mine will). It’s precisely the kind of guidance they’re looking for.

If you’re buying a holiday gift for one of these difficult public, listen up. I’m going to tell you how to buy a gift that will rock their holiday.
