When it comes to the military, the smarter devices are, the better they are. And the XM-25 Individual Airburst Weapon is a rather cool gun that you’d probably want to have with you whether you’re in a sticky situation. that gun is capable of firing a 25mm “smart round” that can be detonated at a pre-programmed distance, spreading shrapnel in all directions. A rangefinder is used to determine how far the target is, allowing the user to correctly adjust when the bullet detonates. You really wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that weapon, would you?

This has been such a towering moment coming that it’s not even funny anymore. Word is going around that major retailers such as Target, GameStop and Future Shop have stated that the black version of the Nintendo Wii will be going on sale on May 9th in the US, with the Canadian release set for May 23rd. The console itself is identical to the current white version, but the bundle will include a Wiimote, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resortland and Wii MotionPlus upgrade. The price is speculated to be at $199. It’s worth noting that the lucky folks by in Japan have had the black version of the Nintendo Wii since last year.

If you think that sending half a thousand (!) Nerf darts per minute at your target is unable to do sufficient damage, how about calling in the Mk 19 Nerf grenade launcher? that faithful reproduction of the Mk 19 grenade launcher that saw action in the military is belt-fed,. where it will fire Nerf rockets in lieu of live grenades (much to the relief of your target). Using batteries as its main source of ability, it relies on compressed air to get its Nerf artillery to its target. The entire setup isn’t light though, tipping the scales at more than 100 pounds. You can’t purchase that off the shelf though since it is a DIY machine which probably won’t go on sale by its creator.

Could that be a vague tip that Google’s Nexus One will be available of Verizon Wireless sometime soon? The picture above shows Verizon CelleBrite unit, which is used to transfer phonebook notes from one phone to another, listing a Google Nexus One. Of course, the fact that the Nexus One appears on the CelleBrite doesn’t necessarily mean that the Nexus One is destined for Verizon Wireless, as it’s worth noting that CelleBrite needs a host and a target to transfer details too, so it’s additionally possible that the Nexus One is listed there amongst a large list of phone that Verizon might have no intention of carrying. Still, we can always hope, right?

Yamaha has rolled out its first pair of in-ear headphones for the masses, thanks to the EPH-50. that is touted to be a pseudo-audiophile model that comes with 13.6mm (0.53in) drivers, an overall tougher build as well as a 0.25″ adapter for home stereos. Apart from that, there is additionally the EPH-30 which is the mainstream entrant with 9mm (0.35in) drivers and a more conventional build, while the EPH-20 will target entry-level listeners as it features slightly larger drivers (10.7mm) albeit being rather low-cost in nature which is reflected by the audio quality, although you can choose from five colors. The EPH-50, EPH-30 and EPH-20 will retail for $100, $50 and $30, respectively.

Samsung has started to ship samples of its 40nm-based 32GB DRAM modules that will target servers which require high density and performance without sucking up too much juice from the grid. These modules comprise of Samsung’s recently unveiled 36 dual-die 40nm class 4GB DDR3 chips which offer at worst, on par performance with the 40nm 16GB RDIMM modules. According to Samsung, a two-way server is now able to achieve a maximum RAM option of up to 384GB as compared to 192GB with 16GB modules. Expect mass production of the 40nm 32GB RDIMM to being from April onwards.

‘ target=_blank>available that Thursday, which should be good news for PS3 owners, unless you happen to be running Linux on your machine. that is considering the update will disable the “Install Other OS” feature, which is available on the PS3 systems prior to the current line of PS3 slim models. The reason for disabling the feature is cited as a protection concern, but there are rumblings around the World Wide Web that that could be a method of trying to curb piracy, which is already much rarer on the PS3. Of course, you can always choose to not update your system, but that would mean you won’t be able to connect to PSN, or enjoy any games or movies that require 3.21 or later. With that in mind, are you planning to update to the latest firmware version that Thursday, or are you going to stick with what you’ve currently got?
