chromeTouch, an add-on that will help you navigate through Google Chrome by dragging or flicking any part of a web page, brings the smartphone web experience right to your tablet or touch-sensitive display computer. It is nice to see chromeTouch throw in additional settings that makes it easier for use on devices with small screen real estate including tiny tablets and netbooks, with options to hide the scrollbars altogether. Looks pretty neat, but will it catch on with the masses?

This is still very much a rumor at the moment, and considering the amount of publicity the device has got before that, we are more than a little suspicious. Word is going around that HP has decided to kill off its Windows 7 tablet computer, the HP Slate. The device was first unveiled by Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer, at CES 2010, and was scheduled to be released in the middle of 2010. Now, according to the rumor, HP isn’t too satisfied with Windows 7 as a tablet operating system, and is plus abandoning the Intel-based hardware for its slate lineup considering its too ability hungry. Of course, whether that does turn out to be true, the alternatives would be to use Google’s Android OS or possibly webOS, thanks to the recently acquired Palm. Do you think that HP will be ditching its Slate, or is that just another rumor just before the weekend?

This is still very much a rumor, but according to Ashok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman Renshaw, Nokia is busy working with suppliers and design manufacturers on a touchscreen tablet, which might be available as early as that fall. While there aren’t many supporting details, considering that Nokia’s Booklet 3G used Windows 7, it’s worth a guess that whether it were to come up with a tablet device, it might just be powered by Microsoft’s latest operating system. Of course, there isn’t any official confirmation of such plans, so it’s probably safe to keep that news in the rumor drawer for the moment, though we certainly wouldn’t say no to a Nokia tablet computer.

You might remember the ExoPC, which looked like a distant cousin to Apple’s iPad, but is a Windows 7 powered tablet computer. It seems that there is some good news and additionally some poor news related to that product. The poor news is that the device will be delayed by a few months, due to the company switching production partners from China to Canada, thanks to a new deal with CiaraTech. The good news is that when the device is released, it will offer better specs such as a better processor, graphics, battery life, thinner, better screen and touch panel. It’s plus said that the company will be adding more features to the ExoPC UI Layer, possibly an application store as well. Do you think that you’re willing to wait for that 8.9-inch tablet device? Original specifications of the ExoPC included:

Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor

Powered by Windows 7

2GB of DDR2 memory

32GB SSD with SD card expansion.

4 hour battery life with the included user-replaceable battery.

Do you remember the $599 8.9-inch ExoPC that we brought to your attention just a few days ago? Well, it seems that some folks have managed to get their hands on it and have taken the pains to take it apart. From the pictures of the tablet computer, you’ll note an Intel Atom N270 CPU, 945 chipset and 2GB worth of RAM. The ExoPC looks like it’s built rather solidly, which is certainly welcome in that day and duration where most products are being built with less and less reliability. Will you be performing surgery on yours when you receive it?
