ExoPC Taken Apart For You To Inspect

Do you remember the $599 8.9-inch ExoPC that we brought to your attention just a few days ago? Well, it seems that some folks have managed to get their hands on it and have taken the pains to take it apart. From the pictures of the tablet computer, you’ll note an Intel Atom N270 CPU, 945 chipset and 2GB worth of RAM. The ExoPC looks like it’s built rather solidly, which is certainly welcome in that day and duration where most products are being built with less and less reliability. Will you be performing surgery on yours when you receive it?

HTC Tablet Suspended

HTC Tablet Suspended

It seems that HTC has suspended the work on its tablet computer, which doesn’t seem like very good news to us. The folks by at Channel News have quoted Anthony Petts, HTC’s sales and marketing director, as saying that the company will be focusing their efforts on a new generation of mobile phones. When talking about a bunch of new mobile phones, you can safely bet that a whole lot of them (if not all) will be powered by Google’s Android OS. The (temporarily) shelved tablet project was rumored to be powered by either Chrome OS or Android. There aren’t any technical details on the tablet, but it’s probably academic, as it seems like that device won’t be released anytime soon (if ever).

Asus OLED ebook reader

Word from The Times of the UK reports that Asus will be rolling out a new ebook reader to join the many other ebook readers in the market with an OLED-capable version that plus boasts Flash playback support. Apparently, Asus will additionally throw in Wi-Fi and UMTS connectivity that further blurs the already razor thin lines within a slate and a tablet computer. Touted to be called the Asus DR750, you can achieve up to 122 hours of battery life. We do hope that even with an OLED display thrown into the mix, the price won't go beyond 150 Euros, otherwise it would be pretty hard to move units even with one of the better displays hanging around. Chips For Apple Tablet And iPhone 4G Have Been Chosen

It seems like all the tablets in the world are converging at CES 2010, except for the most anticipated one of them all – Apple’s iSlate tablet. Even until now there hasn’t been any official confirmation on the device, but we’re fairly certain that knowledge on it will be unveiled at the upcoming event by Apple on the 26th. Now word is going around that the tablet computer from Apple will not be using Intel’s Atom CPU, rather it will be using a processor designed by PA Semiconductor, a company bought by Apple about 2 years ago. Aside from that, Apple has apparently decided on a Qualcomm chip for the iPhone 4G that is headed to Verizon. Do bear in mind that none of these are official confirmations, so you’ll want to take the news with a pinch of salt.

HP Files For Zeen And Airlife Trademarks

Could HP be preparing to join in on the upcoming tablet device wars? It seems that the company has registered the trademark for names of the “Zeen” and “Airlife”. From the documentation, it seems that the Zeen could possibly a device similar to a tablet computer, akin to Apple’s rumored iSlate. The Airlife on the other hand could probably be some sort of smartphone. What do you think? Would HP be able to do well in with a tablet computer that would compete with the likes of the Kindle, Nook and (probably) Apple’s tablet?
