It looks like companies are busy trying to turn the humble coffee table into something way more interesting. Despite there already being other options and designs being worked on, Digital Touch seems confident in its T3-B table, which is a coffee table sized unit that has a built-in 26-inch LCD, as well as Wi-Fi, allowing users to browse, choose and interact with various options on screen. The inclusion of an orientation switch should be fairly useful, as it allows you to view your composition from any side of the table. The table can additionally be hooked up with an optional receipt printer, credit card reader and TV tuner, making it perfect for settings such as a hotel environment or restaurant. The T3-B is currently featured in a handful of the top 100 venues in the US, so whether you’re ever in one of those posh areas, keep an eye out for such a table.

The iStation T3 Voca Edition is an educational portable media player that will come with similar specifications found on the non-Voca iStation T3 which was announced last year (!), so here’s a revisit of the specifications that include a 4.3″ touchscreen LCD display, support for WMV, MPEG, AVI, DivX and Xvid file formats, TV out, e-book support, an integrated FM radio and a built-in audio recording. The Voca Edition will see it come in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities while helping kids improve their vocabulary (hence the name Voca). Pricing starts from around $259 upwards, depending on the model number and capacity.

Based on a quick glance at the picture above, would you want it? It’s a design of what T3 considering the next generation portable computer, or “Netpad” as they signal it. Truth be told, it looks like a tablet computer with a stand at the back to keep it upright. Granted, it looks futuristic and certainly alluring, and so we certainly wouldn’t mind seeing such a product become a reality. Will we all be ditching the keyboard a few years down the road?
