Nokia X10 Symbian S^3 leaked

Nokia X10 Symbian S^3 leaked

Nokia's X10 Symbian S^3-powered smartphone seems to have suffered from a leak, where one is able to catch a glimpse of its sliding QWERTY keyboard alongside an ARM Cortex A8 600MHz processor running underneath the hood. 256MB RAM, a choice of 32GB or 16GB of internal flash memory, a 5-megapixel camera, video shout support and a 3.2" AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display rounds off the list of features. Shame about the megapixel count on the Nokia X10, since we've progressed to 8-megapixels and beyond for quite some moment already where high-end handsets are concerned.

First Samsung Bada OS Phone Due In March

Details of Samsung’s upcoming Bada OS aren’t as abundant as Google’s Android or Symbian, but Samsung is busy working on its previously mentioned Bada OS, and the company certainly seems confident about it. In a recent update, Samsung’s mobile division President, Shin Jong-Kyun has boasted that they will be seeing a big success with Bada, not to mention the number of Bada-powered devices will rise significantly that year. It’ll be interesting to see how Bada compares against the other mobile operating systems such as Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone OS and of course, Google’s Android (which is riding a huge wave of momentum at the moment). The First Bada-powered phone will be released in late March or early April, so we’ll definitely be looking forward to that. With more and more competition in the mobile space, it looks like the cell phone war isn’t going to let up anytime soon.

Sneak Peak At Symbian4 User Interface

Sneak Peak At Symbian4 User Interface

Nokia’s Symbian UI isn’t the hottest UI on the block at the moment, but you can be certain that Nokia is working hard to sort that out. As you know, Symbian^4 devices should be expected to ship in early 2011, and conceptual interface designs have started to pop up, so whether you’re the kind who likes to voice your displeasure, that would probably be your chance (not when it’s finalized and released). The new UI will be built upon Qt and Orbit, which should help Nokia lure developers by making apps easier to build and update.

Nokia To Reduce Smartphone Numbers By Half

Nokia To Reduce Smartphone Numbers By Half

While Nokia announced more than 15 smartphones that year, the company plans to roughly halve that number in 2010. The reason behind is apparently the increasing competition coming from RIM, Apple, HTC and additionally Samsung. Antti Vasara, Nokia’s head of smartphones R&D has declared that by releasing fewer smartphones the company will cut down unnecessary differentiation and have a more focused portfolio in 2010. Aside from that, Nokia plus has plans to reduce the price of its smartphones and will be looking to the upcoming Symbian^3 platform to help it regain lost market share.
