Piracy on the Web is an ongoing cat and mouse game that doesn’t look like it’ll end anytime soon. Now NEC Japan has another weapon up its sleeve to fend off piracy, as the company has come up with a technology that can find illegal copies of videos uploaded to the World Wide Web in seconds. that is achieved by creating a comparison piece that is just 76 bytes from the original that can be compared to the file in question. that technology is part of the MPEG-7 standard, allowing movie producers and ISPs to identify pirates faster and more accurately. NEC claims that the technology has a 96 percent success rate and false alarm rate of 5 in 1 million during checking. It’ll be interesting to see what is the next move by subject matter pirates and how they will circumvent that.

Western Digital has just released a new update for its WD TV Live HD, making it the first networked media hub that is capable of recognizing Windows 7. that firmware patch will enable the WD TV Live HD to show up as a destination for Windows’ Play To feature, where you will next be able to choose subject matter from the computer instead of the hub, without having to load the media player first before a video, photo or music is loaded. Still, that doesn’t mean that support for virtually any format and features available before the update is applied will vanish, so you can breathe easy knowing that 1080p video and recognition of most common media formats are still there. You will need to control Web radio from Live365 or Pandora directly from the WD TV Live’s remote though. The WD TV Live HD retails for $150 and plays nice with Macs as well just in case you were wondering.

Well, here is a clearer image of what the final handset would look like, boasting a committed 3D button that we presume would display 3D subject matter whenever the situation calls for it. As for its specifications that are listed right after the jump, they remain within expectations of a standard handset in South Korea. No notion on pricing, so you will need to check with SK Telecom on its release moment and availability.

SanDisk has finally shipped its Xbox 360 USB Flash Drive for the Xbox 360 console, letting ordinary folks like you and I save games, download subject matter as well as access multimedia files without the need for a hard drive. that is pretty much a purchase for folks who want convenience right out of a box, since the SanDisk drive comes pre-formatted and shaves off precious minutes used to set it up by letting you play your favorite games right off the bat. Of course, those who want to save some cash can use existing speedy USB flash drives, but those will need to be properly set up before they can be used. You can pick up the Xbox 360 USB flash drive from SanDisk in 8GB and 16GB capacities which retail for $35 and $70, respectively. Each purchase will come with a one-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold as an added incentive.

Word is going around that Hulu might have to abandon its UK launch for the moment. Apparently advertising talks with ITV have broken down considering the broadcaster wants to focus on growing its own service – ITV Player. With that in mind, it isn’t too keen to syndicate out its subject matter to a third party. The main issue is that Hulu wants to be able to control the advertising that comes with the composition, something that ITV, Channel 4 and Five aren’t too comfortable with. With that, Hulu is said to have been forced to abandon its UK expansion plans after failing to sign any contract deals. Were you looking forward to Hulu in the UK?

One of the greatest weapons of Apple’s iPhone is its well-populated App Store. So far, not even Google’s Android Market has been able to beat Apple’s online mobile store, but the search engine giant is certainly doing a good job of catching up. that, along with the price change in the Mac developer license led to speculation that Apple would be considering coming up with an App Store for OS X too. And whether you take into detail the incredible success of the App Store, it’s not hard to believe that such a thing could happen. That being said, Steve Jobs has apparently replied an newsletter to a user, denying (in his usual short mail style) that OS X 10.7 will be getting an App Store, effectively quashing the rumors (for the duration being at least). Would you be happy whether there were an App Store for OS X, or are you perfectly subject matter with the way you install software on your Mac now?
