Hauppauge has rolled out its MediaMVP-HD Digital Media Player that will jump straight into the world of full High Definition, offering support for 1080p video via HDMI. Apart from that, you will plus find that it is equipped with a UPnP client capable of streaming shared photo, music, and video files from networked computers as well as other storage devices by an Ethernet connection. The USB port additionally lets you hook up a USB flash drive or external storage drive for additional playback from other sources. Other connectivity options include component, composite, and S-Video, where the Hauppauge MediaMVP-HD is tipped to hit the US market that summer for $149.99. Expect the hacker community to have a field day with that since it runs on Linux.

Active Media Products has a type new SATA DOM (Disk on Module) drive which is capable of offering far superior performance compared to PATA DOMs where embedded computing applications are concerned. that new range supports sequential read and write speeds up to 100MB/sec and 42MB/sec, respectively. Just what is a DOM, you ask? Well, it is a tiny flash-based storage drive which can be plugged straight into an industry standard port on most motherboards. You can pick up the 8GB, 16GB and 32GB models for $69, $89 and $189, respectively.

You see an awesome looking Alien figurine, and even better, it has a USB cable attached to it, which can only mean that it’s a USB storage drive, or a USB hub, right? Apparently not. While an Alien figurine is certainly awesome, all that little Alien does is stick its illuminated tongue out at you. It might scare your 5 year old younger brother, but that’ll probably be about it.
