February 1, 2010

By now you’ve certainly seen those steering wheel accessories for the iPhone or iPod touch. The iDrift is a concept steering wheel accessory for the iPad, and we’re certain that there will be many more in line after that. The downside is that that accessory looks like it’s going to take up some space in your backpack, since it has to be large decent to accommodate the iPad. But whether you’re into gaming, you’re willing to sacrifice, right?

Lego steering unit controls iPhone
January 13, 2010
So you've got an iPhone and love to play with all of its multitouch features? Well, here is some food for thought - that specific Lego hack throws in a steering wheel into the mix, allowing you to enjoy your favorite tilt-to-steer racing games like never before. While that view might inspire third party iPhone peripheral manufacturers to come up with their own range of similar products, there is no greater satisfaction (and geek cred) than to build your own. Forgive the title typo in the YouTube video page though. Word!

Microsoft Looking To Muscle Based Computer Controls
January 2, 2010

It certainly looks like games of the future will become more interactive, as that’s a subject that many companies are looking into. Now Microsoft has come up with a rather useful notion, which results in a patent for several methods of controlling a computer using Electromyography (EMG). that method will read the electrical activity of muscles and translate those signals into instruction sets, which would control the computer. It kind of gives you an view of Project Natal or Nintendo’s Wii on steroids. Another practical example of real-world use would be the a driver can interact with the vehicle’s navigation system without taking his hands off the steering wheel.

The future will see no connectivity with smartphones since the service itself will be integrated into Web-connected cars.

Maplock keeps your GPS safer
December 4, 2009

Apart from notebooks getting stolen from your car trunk, GPS navigation devices seem to suffer from a similar fate as well, since there is a healthy second hand market for these devices. Why not take the proactive step by purchasing the Maplock? that device will hook onto your GPS while tethering it to your steering wheel, helping deter future thefts. that anti-theft notion is courtesy of Australian-based Who-Rae, although we don't have any concept on pricing or availability just yet. that is where prevention is better than cure comes in.
