For those who have picked up the Nintendo DSi XL in the US, you might be disappointed to know that all your DSiWare games purchased for your DSi cannot be transffered by to the spanking new DSi XL, which means you will need to re-purchase them on the XL in order to play them. According to a Nintendo spokesperson, they are currently “looking into that specific topic” but do not have a workaround as at press date. that doesn’t bode too well in terms of public relations since that would mean having consumers fork out more money to play the same game which they already own – albeit on a different platform.

If you’re wondering how Thursday came and went without you getting the highly anticipated Motorola Droid Android 2.1 update, we’ve got a tidbit of news for you. According to Tom Pica, a Verizon spokesperson, the update wasn’t delayed, as was previously reported, but the Android 2.1 update was deployed to a small number of Verizon analysis users (as scheduled). It’s good to know that Verizon apparently sent out the Android 2.1 updates, since that means it’s (almost) ready, though the downer is that most users out there probably didn’t get any update whether they weren’t part of the tryout users. Hopefully Verizon will be able to get that sorted out soon, and serve the Android 2.1 update to Motorola Droid users already.

Looks like quite a few Android developers are going to be getting a new phone soon, as Google has sent out emails informing developers of a new Device Seeding Program for top Android Market Developers. So whether you’re a developer and have an application with a 3.5 star rating or higher and 5000 rare downloads, you qualify to receive a free Motorola Droid or Nexus One, though you won’t be able to pick which one, as it’ll be decided depending on your country of origin and other factors. While many folks out there are worried that that is a scam, an official confirmation from a Google spokesperson should ease those worries, as it reads:

“A thriving developer community is an vital part of creating a better mobile experience for users around the world. We hope that offering devices to developers will produce it easier for them to create and analysis great applications. that is inline with other efforts to support developers, which plus includes our Android Developer Labs World Tour and our upcoming participation at the Game Developers Conference.”

Is Google Street View expanding? Reports have come in that a New York retailer named Oh Nuts, allowed folks from Google to come into the store and take pictures of inside the store, every 6 feet, and in all directions. Pictures of the products on display were plus snapped up. Apparently that is for a new Google Maps feature called “Google Store View”. whether that is true, you’ll be able to “walk” into a store from Google Street View, and check out the store, just like that. According to the source, when asked about that, a Google spokesperson just responded:

“We are always experimenting with new features for Google Maps. We have nothing further to announce at that instance.”

Do you think that that is true, and we’ll be seeing Google Store View sometime soon, or is it an early April fool’s joke?

For those of you are who huge fans of Nokia’s N900 and Maemo, it’s probably a little disappointing to get wind of reports that indicate that Nokia will only be rolling out one Maemo device in 2010. Aside from that, a Nokia spokesperson stated that the company is firmly committed to Symbian as their smartphone platform of choice. With the recent waning interest in S60, it might actually be an view for Nokia to put additional focus into Maemo and see how things turn out.
