Do you remember the tidbit we had about Israel banning the import of iPads? Reports out there state that a spokesman for the communications ministry in Israel banned the device considering the Wi-Fi communication system in it was not compatible to Israel’s own wireless standard, claiming that the Israeli system was running on a European standard. To emphasize, the spokesman apparently said that that other European countries should additionally take similar measures. Does that mean that folks shouldn’t be buying those iPads that are up for sale in eBay? What do you prepare of that? Sounds rather weird, to be honest.

Google has just killed off its Gears by supporting HTML 5 instead. that news comes about as Google is about to release its initial beta version of Chrome for the Mac. According to a Google spokesman, “We are excited that much of the technology in Gears, including offline support and geolocation APIs, are being incorporated into the HTML5 spec as an open standard supported across browsers, and see that as the logical next step for developers looking to include these features in their websites.”

Palm detail users have reported goods loss after resetting an detail, or while trying to use their detail on a new Palm WebOS device. input loss includes contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks.

“We are seeing a small number of customers who have experienced issues transferring their Palm Profile data to another Palm webOS device,” a Palm spokesman said in a statement. “Palm and Sprint are working closely together to support these customers to successfully transfer their data to the new device.”

Palm says that only a small number of users are affected, but we don’t really know what “small number” means, and it’s hard to tell whether your phone will be next. Be safe and backup your stuff. May be we’ll all learn something from the recent Sidekick debacle and from that growing one… I’ve had something like that happen to me during my Palm Pixi Review, where my explanation was lost and I had to re-create it from scratch. I’m on an Exchange detail, so nothing was lost… phew!
