Jolicloud netbook OS heads for universal debut
March 17, 2010

Looks like the Jolicloud operating system will be made available internationally to folks running netbooks, where it will come in both English and French flavors with plans for other languages in the pipeline. It would be interesting to see just how many society will take up the Jolicloud offer even though it is free, since Windows XP still rules supreme with the soon-to-come Google Chrome OS more than capable of making a big splash on its debut as well. Perhaps Jolicloud has already talked to other netbook manufacturers to include it in their machines - who knows?

Pandora handheld ready to rock and roll
December 9, 2009

The open source Pandora handheld looks set to form a splash pretty soon, where it has been tipped to retail for $330 thereabouts while resembling the size of a Nintendo DS. Among the highlights of the Pandora include the Ångström-Linux operating system, a desktop environment, a Texas Instruments 600Mhz ARM processor, a Texas Instruments 430Mhz DaVinci video processor, accompanied by a 4.3" touchsreen display at 800 x 480 resolution, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, dual SDHC memory card slots at TV out via composite or S-video. Are you drooling yet?

Google Chrome OS source cipher and VMWare version are available
November 20, 2009
Finally Chromium OS gets its source cipher opened and right today you can run the first rough version of the Google Chrome OS using VMWare. That's all great apart from poor compatibility and other childhood diseases which I'm certain Google will cure in about a year. They do actually point that out on their official blog. Reminds me a lot of that instance last year when first rumors followed by first beta versions of Windows 7 started to come out. Anyway, the big news about Chrome OS is that everyone can lay their hands on it, plus a splash of facts and first experiment results.
