Super Talent has recently announced its latest value-for-money solid state drive (SSD) known as the Super Talent VSSD, where proud new owners of that device will be able to experience a shorter operating system bootup duration, speedier faster application loading and less capability consumption. The VSSD will play nice with a 3Gbps SATA-II bandwidth, and is capable of touching sequential read speeds up to 150 MB/sec and sequential write speeds up to 100 MB/sec. You will be able to choose from various capacities to suit your budget, where the 8GB model is going for $65 thereabouts while folks who opt for the 64GB model will have to fork out around $175 for one. While SSDs are faster than hard drives and could prove to be more stable since there are no moving parts, it is still pricier although that is now not too much a “con” as it used to be.

TDK Corporation has unveiled its latest storage solution, the SHG2A half-slim type solid state drive (SSD). The SHG2A is targeted for use in industrial applications, as well as thin client PCs, tablets, smart phones and eBook readers. It offers storage capacities all the way up to 32GB, and in a package that’s roughly half the size of a 1.8-inch hard drive. It sports a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, 128-bit AES robotic encryption, and maximum read/write speeds of 95MB/s and 28MB/s respectively. The SHG2A SSDs will enter mass production in April, which is just around the corner.

Shuttle has come up with another one of its barebones computers, and that instance, it’s the Shuttle XPC X50V2. Raidon’s HyBrid Disk tells it as it is – that storage device will hold both a solid-state drive (SSD) and a hard drive in a separate chassis, where its ultimate aim would be to replace 3.5″ hard drive mechanisms. that is made possible with users reading and writing files to the SSD while the hard drive mirrors the SSD contents at scheduled intervals, helping create a backup of all your notes constantly. Raidon claims that both the SSD and the hard drive are not set up in a true RAID 1 configuration, so in the event where your SSD fails, you can always recover the most recent backup from the hard drive in a jiffy. Since the SSD can be removed sans the HyBrid Disk mechanism, it allows you to place it into another drive or hook it up to a computer internally. There is no word on the total storage capacities offered, and neither do we have an inkling of its price but we know for certain they will roll out later that April.

InnoDisk has developed their latest PCI Express-based solid state drive (SSD) that is able to achieve transfer speeds of up to 800MB/sec, and even at that speed, it is capable of touching 2TB in capacity. As for its write speed, the InnoDisk SSD is able to deliver 600MB/s which is superior to other SSDs that max out at 230MB/s. Hopefully they will keep the price low though.
