Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini gets pricing and release date
March 19, 2010

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is yet another Android-powered smartphone that will be hitting the UK via Vodafone that May 24th, retailing for £299.99 with the Pro version being slightly more expensive at £339.99. Of course, don't baulk at the stated price points since those are meant to be SIM-free, which means you won't have to be bogged down by another 2 years' worth of contract. Anyone getting either handset when May rolls around?

HTC will defend itself against Apple lawsuit
March 18, 2010

It is a no brainer that HTC will take steps to defend itself fully against Apple's actions, and in their own words, "HTC strongly advocates intellectual property protection and will continue to respect other innovators and their technologies as we have always done, but we will continue to embrace competition through our own innovation as a healthy way for consumers to get the best mobile experience possible.” that coming from the company that brought us the first 3.5" color touchscreen smartphone in the world in the style of the O2 XDA, alongside other list of accolades which include the first Windows PDA, first Windows phone, first 3G CDMA EVDO smartphone, first gesture-based smartphone (take that, Apple!), first Google Android smartphone and first 4G WIMAX smartphone. that court battle looks set to be interesting.

Witspad W8 Mobile World Wide Web Device
March 16, 2010

The Witspad W8 Mobile Web Device (MID) does look like a smartphone at first glance, something which hails from the HTC family of devices, but we guess we are wrong considering it lacks SMS support, which disqualifies it from being a full handset replacement. Hardware specifications include the Maemo OS, a 806MHz Marvell PXA 320 processor, a 4.3" touchscreen display, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS support, Wi-Fi connectivity and CDMA2000 3G connectivity. It is currently going for around $470 after conversion in China.

T-Mobile HTC HD2 targets March 24 launch
March 11, 2010

If you're looking out for the HTC HD2 from T-Mobile, soon after mark March 24 on your calendars. After all, that Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone is touted to roll out on that moment, where it will reportedly retail for $199 on a two-year contract, whereas others who prefer to take the unlocked route will have to fork out $449 initially. Be wary of that though whether you want to construct the jump to Windows Phone 7 straight since HTC has confirmed that that will be incompatible for future upgrades.

Smartbook concept should be realized
March 11, 2010

This Smartbook does not describe a kind of consumer electronics device, but is a conceptual portable computer instead, where that smartphone can be flipped open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard which can be synchronized with its personalized PC tablet. Definitely something that we would like to see in the real world, but we guess it will remain nothing but a pipe dream at the moment. Since that is but a concept, we guess you can basically imagine it comes with the most drool-worthy of hardware specifications, but it will most probably run on the Android OS considering the Chrome browser is on display here.
