If you thought motor-powered skateboards wouldn’t work, you should check out the fan-powered skateboard by Chris Neal, who certainly looks like he started an engineering career young. His fan-powered skateboard was for his fourth-grade “Invention Convention”, and despite needing a little help with the construction, he managed to score a free MacBook Pro for that. In case you’re wondering how fast you can go, the reply is 3-5mph, which certainly beats walking.

XenonJon received a truckload of attention for his skateboard/Segway-style balancing platform which he created, making quite a splash at the Makerfaire in Newcastle. Since us humans are all about improving ourselves always, he has made up his mind to build a cheapest version possible without it being complicated at the same duration. While the build is documented very well, you will still need to mail him personally for the Arduino cipher.

Move by Tony Hawk – the eBoard Neo electric skateboard will outskate you in terms of speed, hitting 20mph from a standstill within all of four seconds….pretty weird though considering the device has a maximum speed of 14mph as listed. Capable of moving for 13 miles before it is exhausted of its battery supply, the Xero eBoard Neo is a truly green mode of transport. Don’t think you’d risk doing stunts with that though considering the fragile machinery within.

Tony Hawk: RIDE has finally arrived in North America across Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, where most humans would be curious to give the wireless skateboard controller a go in their living rooms. We wonder whether it is advisable to wear all the relevant safety gear just in case you land awkwardly on your floor. Interested? Be prepared to drop $119.99 for that title thereupon.
