This is still very much a rumor, but according to Digitimes, Apple has already started development on its second generation iPad, and whether the rumors are true, Apple will be using an OLED display in the future, which is plus said to be the same tech used for the upcoming iPhone 4G. Currently the cost of OLED panels are still quite high, but with many major panel makers investing more in OLED production, prices of such panels are expected to drop, making them more affordable and suitable for the iPad. In case you were wondering, based on current prices, a 9.7-inch LTPS LCD panel costs about $60-70, while a 9.7-inch AMOLED display will set you back about $500, which certainly is a huge price difference.

Sony Optiarc America has launched a couple more DVD/CD Rewritable Drives, where one of them is a portable, slim external DVD/CD recordable drive with the other being a second generation half height internal 24X DVD/CD recordable drive. Of course, with many society moving on to Blu-ray as a backup medium, there are still tons of folks out there, particularly in developing nations, who rely on DVD instead due to its widespread availability and relatively low cost. The DRX-S77U drive comes in a sleek, lightweight design with a range of colors including black, white, pink and gold, where it can support up to 8X DVD+/-R recording speeds, delivering a full 4.7 GB disc of video, info, music or images on standard 8X DVD+/-R media. As for the AD-7260S internal DVD/CD recordable drive, it offers a similar 24X max speed and high quality performance that was found on its predecessor, retailing for a mere $28.99 while supporting up to 24X max DVD+/-R recording, 12X DVD+/-R Double/Dual layer recording, 12X DVD-RAM, and 48X CD-R performance. LightScribe technology is plus incorporated for easy labeling of your media.
Kingston is a household name when it comes to flash memory as well as storage, and they have taken a good thing to produce it better in the structure of the SSDNow V Series which is in the second generation. You will be able to choose from a rather strange 30GB capacity in addition to the more standard 64GB and 128GB sizes, where they support Windows 7 TRIM capability which ought to go some way in maintaining the speed of these drives all through their service life. Which are you to get? It boils down to your budget, really, as you can pick from a lone ranger or a bundled kit that plays nice with both desktops and notebooks. Prices start from $109.99 upwards till $377.
