Looks like Samsung has just gone public with their Bada SDK, making it available to the masses so that home enthusiasts as well as hobbyists will be able to churn out their very own widgets and apps. Of course, that will be a success whether more and more folks adopt Bada-powered smartphones, but otherwise expect that to come across as a niche offering only. Previously, Samsung did construct new SDK releases available to partners but that is the first day the public will be able to get hold of it. For those who have patience as a virtue, they can pick up the final release at the end of that month instead of settling for the current beta version.

While there’s no official indication whether the next iPhone would be called the iPhone HD or iPhone 4, we are really looking forward to seeing it support HD video recording, and we might actually be granted our wish. A few lines of cipher in the latest iPhone SDK have hinted that 720p video recording might be on the cards. Of course, just considering there are hints of it in the cipher doesn’t mean that the next iPhone will offer it, but there seems to be a higher possibility now. The cipher we’ve mentioned is listed as:

That being said, word is going around that Apple could avoid a possible examination by changing the terms of its iPhone 4.0 SDK to allow developers write iPhone apps using other tools, such as Adobe’s Flash CS5 or MonoTouch. Of course, it’s hard to imagine Apple reversing its decision on the terms of its SDK, but let’s wait and see what the end aftermath is.

webOS users are already used to having their Facebook contacts linked to their phonebook, but now it looks like iPhone users might be getting that feature in the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0 too. Folks who have been busy digging through the iPhone OS 4.0 SDK have found hints of native Facebook integration built into the phone. There isn’t much info as to what the feature actually does at the moment, but the most likely possibility is that it will link your Facebook contacts with your contacts in the Phone. It’s worth noting that the official iPhone Facebook app already allows photo syncing with contacts, but we don’t mind integration either. After the recent iPhone 4G leak, most folks believe that the upcoming iPhone 4G will come standard with the iPhone OS 4.0.

What is the big hoo-ha for that, you ask? Well, for the uninitiated, that would be the maiden version of the operating system that offers support for the iPad (see our hands-on review) that looks set to take the world (or at least, North America) by storm when April 3rd rolls around.

There’s some good news and poor news for Dvorak keyboard users out there. Dvorak is an alternative keyboard layout to the dominant QWERTY keyboard layout that’s being used by most society. In Apple’s latest iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 5 you can find support for hardware Dvorak keyboards in the OS, which is certainly good news. The poor news is, that the support is for hardware keyboards, there isn’t any mention of the software keyboard, which in all honesty, should be a lot easier to implement. How many Bluetooth Dvorak keyboards do you see out in the market? Of course, you could always place stickers by a normal QWERTY keyboard, but it’s not the same, right?

Photoshop is one of the most popular photo editing applications around. A version of the app is already on the App Store, but those wanting old school Photoshop 1.0 can now get the app as well.

A new feature for the iPhone and iPad is rumored to be coming in the 3.2 SDK. The new feature is video calling, but since the iPhone lacks a front camera and the iPad has no camera, the feature would need new hardware.

Skype has finally given assurance that they are working on a new version of Skype for the iPhone that enables VoIP calls by a 3G connection. Needless to say, that upgrade requires accesing a feature in the new iPad SDK that recently lifted the restriction of VoiP calls on a Wi-Fi connection. Skype might be a little bit slower in rolling out their update simply considering they hope to “give you the very best audio quality we can.” There is plus confirmation that Skype is working for a similar app that will grace the iPad when the latter rolls out in less than 2 months’ duration.

When the iPhone was first released back in 2007, many humans were disappointed by its camera and lack of ability in the shutterbug branch. While there has been progress by the years with subsequent upgrades, the 2010 iPhone ought to be the best yet as it purportedly comes with 720p video playback and the possibility of capture in that resolution as well. After all, sifting through the iPhone 3.2 SDK pointed towards a preferences list file that allows videos as wide as 1,280 pixels and a total 921,000 pixel count to be displayed. While that isn’t the first handset to do so, it is certainly a step in the right direction.
