The new batch of Google Chrome betas has just been released for Linux, Mac and Windows platforms, featuring claims that they offer major leaps in terms of performance. All three will sport JavaScript engines that run up to 35% faster in benchmarks like SunSpider. Apart from that, the beta releases are touted to double or triple the speed of the original Windows-only beta. Not only that, these pop quiz releases will plus see the integration of Flash, where Adobe’s plugin has been updated to take advantage of Chrome’s own update engine, while offering integrated sandboxing to prevent Flash from crashing the browser or opening safety measure vulnerabilities. No notion on when a final release is ready for the masses, but it does seem to be pretty stable at point of publishing even when in beta.

The folks by at McAfee are probably scrambling to do their best to limit the damage to their image caused by the recent fiasco of a botched update. The mistake took down tens of thousands (possibly millions) of computers around the globe. Now the safety measure company is offering to reimburse fair expenses associated with the repair of your computer that was botched by that update. To further try and claw back user support, McAfee has additionally offered to extend your existing McAfee subscription by two years, though it’ll be interesting to see how many users take up the extended subscription, considering what just happened. Were you affected by the recent mistake by McAfee?

This “iPad Wi-Fi issue” seems to be getting blown out of proportion. After Israel banned the import of iPads, citing Wi-Fi issues, now it seems that Princeton and a few other universities have decided to block the iPad too, citing connectivity and safety measure issues. George Washington University and Princeton have both rejected the iPad, citing defense issues, while Cornell University is seeing connectivity issues with the device and fears for bandwidth overload. What next, will the iPad be blocked at Starbucks too?

Why not pull all stops and manufacture certain your newly purchased iPad will remain safe and sound with the iPad safety measure Case? that device features and old school number combination lock that prevents others from physically accessing your iPad without your permission. Looks extremely business-like, and it doesn’t really tally well with the intended cool look that the iPad is suppose to bring. You can pick it up in only one boring color – black leather, all for $44.95. Hopefully nobody hammers away at the lock which might just crack your iPad’s display…

Folks who like to check out the latest updates from Microsoft will be overjoyed to take in that Windows 7 SP1 Beta has been leaked, and the leaked build carries the build number 7601.16543.100403-1630 v.159, which indicates that it was compiled on the 3rd of April 2010. Based on the leak, it’s probably a little hard to figure out what Service Pack 1 improves on, aside from the usual critical updates and safety measure patches. that isn’t the first Windows 7 SP1 leak that we’ve seen, but considering that it’s probably just a few days old, it’s probably a lot closer to what we’re going to get in the latest update. Are you looking forward to Service Pack 1 being released?

Do you distress about the defense and reliability of the medical devices that might be implanted in your body (for whatever reason)? whether you’re the cautious type, you’ll appreciate the fact that various researchers have published an write-up in the latest New England Journal of Medicine, suggesting technological and regulatory actions that will hopefully increase the protection of implantable medical devices. There is some nag going around that implantable pacemakers, defibrillators and other similar devices are subject to wireless hacking, which may influence their functionality. Of course, the good news is that there hasn’t been an actual event reported where the person’s implant was interfered with just yet. Fingers crossed.

The lack of multitasking on the iPhone has always been a sore point for many users, and Apple has refused to officially allow multitasking for third-part applications, citing safety measure reasons and battery life issues. Rumor is now going around that the upcoming iPhone 4.0 firmware update might include multitasking, and it’ll even get a cool mechanism for switching within apps, something along the lines of the Exposé feature in Mac OS X. Apparently you won’t be dealing with the application windows like Exposé, rather you’ll see application icons (which is still fine, as enlarged as multitasking works). Let’s not forget that Apple currently has a structure of pseudo-multitasking, in the style of Push Notifications, allowing apps to send notifications to the phone, instead of continuously polling for updates. It does do a rather good job for hiding the lack of multitasking, but let’s see what Apple comes up with in iPhone 4.0, shall we?

Cisco is looking to pair its wireless technology expertise alongside Flip Video’s simplicity-in-design approach, resulting in Valet, a new product line which aims to produce home wireless simple and accessible for everyone. Valet hopes to convert how families use the World Wide Web in their homes, lettign them enjoy the freedom of wireless access without having to go through the traditional frustration and complexity of setting up a home network. Basically home wireless for dummies, all you need to do is insert the included Easy Setup Key into a USB port on your machine (Windows or Mac OS, it doesn’t matter), where the Cisco Connect software will next take by from there, taking all of 3 steps to complete. When setup, you can manage your home wireless experience by adding new devices, setting parental controls and offering World Wide Web access for guests on a separate guest network while customizing personal safety measure settings including passwords. Depending on your home size as well as number of users, the Valet will come in three varieties – Valet, Valet Plus and Valet Connector that retails for $99.99, $149.99 and $79.99, respectively.
