March 17, 2010
It seems that the recent incident, where a bunch of Vodafone HTC Magic smartphones were shipped with the Conficker and Mariposa viruses, has highlighted the issue of mobile device shield to users. As a aftermath, it seems that DroidSecurity managed to get a healthy 10,500 new users to download its mobile device shield solution in the 24-hours that followed the discovery of the virus. While the virus itself didn’t affect the mobile phone, but when the phone was plugged to a PC using a USB connection, the user ran the risk of getting infected by said viruses, not to mention a Lineage password stealer was plus found on the device. Does that mean that we should have antivirus scanners running on our mobile phones all the instance in the future?

More Live Pictures Of The HTC Incredible Surface
March 5, 2010

More live pictures of the upcoming HTC Incredible have surfaced, and while they’re not the first live pictures of the device we’ve managed to dig up, it’s still good to start the day with new pictures of a cool Android-powered phone, right? There aren’t any official details at the moment, but word is still going around that that phone is to be expected on Verizon Wireless. Google might have to come up with a successor to the Nexus One soon or risk losing its top dog status amongst Android phones.

PUMA phone not the last
February 18, 2010

Looks like the PUMA phone that we saw at Mobile World Congress is not the last of its kind, which means there is no risk of it being an endangered species anytime soon. According to a Sagem Operators Group Sales Manager, there will be more PUMA phones hitting the market in the near future, although said manager did not divulge any more details concerning availability, specifications as well as the grand total of handsets that will reach in the market - be it that year or beyond. With that in mind, would you still pick up a make new PUMA phone, or prefer to wait and see whether future iterations will work on their predecessor's weaknesses?

IE6 Users To Lose Gmail And Google Calendar Support Too
February 4, 2010

It was previously mentioned that Google Docs and Google Sites would be ditching support for Microsoft’s Net Explorer 6 (IE6).Considering the popularity of those services, it would probably be a good way to get users to upgrade/switch to a newer version or competing browser. Now it seems that Google is going to take it one step further, by dropping support for the rest of the Google Apps suite (including Gmail) late in 2010, though we’re obviously talking about IE6. that change will affect both enterprise and consumers, so whichever category you fall into, upgrading to a newer browser has just become more fundamental. Will other popular services start to drop support for IE6? It’s certainly a good way to produce the web move forward, though there is the risk of losing a part of your customer base.

Rumor of secret Sony timer
January 13, 2010

Sony has lengthy endured the rumor that Sony installs a secret timer in all of its devices, where these "failsafes" cause their devices to fail after a specified date period. Rumors were rife from the 1980s onwards, as Sony devices just stopped working the moment their warranties expired. Guess that is one rumor that is much longer lived compared to the iSlate, as whispers of such a secret Sony timer still abound today. What do you think? We personally favor that as hogwash, as such a move would definitely kill the company whether proof ever surfaces, and Sony is way too big to take such a risk.
