Classmate PC 2.0 scrutinized further
March 17, 2010

Our friends at GottaBeMobile recently had a talk with Kapil Wadhera, ODM Director at Intel, concerning the latest Classmate PC 2.0. A lot of governments have already decided to spread love for that netbook all around to students courtesy of its natural rugged design that ought to be able to stand up to the rigors of everyday use by active kids, resulting in less repairs as well as lower occurences of downtime. Most educational institutions prefer the non-convertible Classmate since the convertible version isn't precisely solidly built.

JooJoo hits the FCC
March 11, 2010

Hmmm, shortly after getting news that the JooJoo tablet will come in a new color as well as an updated user interface, we have news of that tablet going through the rigors of the FCC. Apparently, underneath the hood will reveal an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor and an NVIDIA Ion chipset to keep it going, confirming the authenticity of its flawless video playback in the past. As for the presence of a SIM card slot, that will most likely point towards 3G being an option sometime in the future. While the JooJoo will ship with a Linux user interface, additional pictures from the FCC do point towards Windows 7, so we would reserve our comments on that since the crystal ball looks rather cloudy at the moment. All will be revealed come March 25th, we guess, when the JooJoo launches.

iKey KYB-170-OEM keypad
February 12, 2010

The iKey KYB-170-OEM keypad will cater to those hardy men and women on the battlefield (as well as anyone else working in a rugged and harsh environment). After all, that military grade 17-key keypad "functions just like a cellular phone does when texting”, where it is plus accompanied by an integrated pointing device, committed mouse-click button, and an Enter key. No concept on how much that puppy will cost, but whether you're a system builder who is working on a sweet wrist computer, it might just bust your budget limit, although by how much, we don't know. At least you know that is one unbreakable guy who is able to stand up to the rigors of everyday use, and thereupon some.

Jabra Extreme Bluetooth headset
February 2, 2010

The Jabra Extreme Bluetooth headset joins the fray by coming in a rather conventional design, where it will combine two microphones alongside Jabra’s very own Blackout Extreme noise cancelling technology that offers crystal clear conversations by minimizing background noise. According to Jabra, the Jabra Extreme is able to reduce background noise by 24 decibels, and is able to connect to a couple of devices simultaneously. While the name Extreme normally points toward it being able to live up to a rugged lifestlye, that £59.99 model isn't able to resist the rigors of skydiving, snowboarding or snorkeling.

Oyster Hydro Electric Wave Energy Device
November 27, 2009

Scotland can now claim to play host to the world’s largest working hydro-electric wave energy device – the Oyster. that machine is Aquamarine Power’s first demonstration-scale wave energy device, and based on the claim that a farm of 20 Oysters would supply decent energy to potential 9,000 three bedroom family homes, it’s certainly something worth looking into. With minimal moving parts, and all electrical components being onshore, it should be robust suitable to resist the rigors of Scotland’s harsh seas.
