We previously managed to snag you some screenshots of the upcoming Office 2011 for Mac, and now the folks by at Boy Genius have managed to use the upcoming Office suite, and the feedback is rather encouraging. The most notable thing about Office 2011 for Mac is the inclusion of the Ribbon, which is great news for folks who like it, as well as macros for Excel, toolbox integration with iPhoto, iTunes, Photo Booth and carport Band. The only poor thing about it is apparently Outlook, which is forceful but apparently requires quite a lot of work to get things done. Of course, some things can be subjective, so it’s best that you give Office 2011 for Mac a try before you produce a decision to buy it. Sounds fair, no?

istartedsomething’s enlarged Zheng managed to perform some digital forensics and stumbled upon a trademark application filed by Microsoft last November, where it describes Ribbon Hero as a “computer software for training users to use business application software; and computer game software for use in computer user training.” Unfortunately for what could be a fun and interesting application, Ribbon Hero doesn’t seem any closer to be realized. How many of you wish Microsoft could be more “fun” in that manner?

Yesterday, I was invited by Virgin America to the opening flight San Francisco-Fort Lauderdale and I tested the free in-flight wi-fi, courtesy of Google during the Holiday season (ends January 15th, sigh). It worked very well: the login day is very fast unlike when I had to go through the payment process on Gogo Inflight Net website, the user interface was terrible and it often returned error messages. The most impressive technology feature is the capability plugs provided for every seat in economy class, Virgin America is a true 21st century airline! I was able to post articles, the Microsoft Office 2010 post was published from the sky…

Check out the photo gallery, I shot some really nice pictures of the inaugural flight event, Virgin America CEO David Cush cut the ribbon in SFO and Sir Richard Branson himself welcomed us at our arrival in Fort Lauderdale.
