Folks at the FCC have taken a look at the Taiwanese-made Android smartphone from Commtiva, where it is additionally known as the F800 Blaze. The device seems to come with branding from Cincinnati Bell, which is a regional carrier in the US that operates in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The F800 Blaze is equipped with a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, and handles GSM/EDGE bands 850, 900, 1800 and 1900, as well as WCDMA bands I and IV. No notion on when the Blaze will hit the market, and neither do we have whiff of whether it will reach on other carriers apart from Cincinnati Bell Stateside.

The HTC Hero has gotten yet another clone, that moment round it looks more or less similar physically as with the Asia Pacific version of the HTC Hero (the one endowed with the chin), alongside Huawei Hisilicon’s top-of-the-line K3 533MHz processor which is a good 5MHz faster than the original HTC Hero’s 528MHz Qualcomm chip. Apart from that, you get 256MB of internal memory with an interface which is similar to the original. According to those who have tried it out, the entire interface is smoother than the real deal. No notion on pricing or availability though, but chances are that will be a China-only device for the moment.

SKY has come up with an Android-powered phone to help Google’s Android OS manufacture more waves by in Korea, the Pantech IM-A600S Sirius, and it should be an interesting phone, considering that it’s powered by Qualcomm’s forceful Snapdragon processor. That being said, do bear in mind that the best hardware in the world would still manufacture a terrible phone is the software isn’t good, and hopefully Google’s OS hasn’t been tweaked beyond recognition. Other specifications of the Pantech IM-A600S Sirius include:

The open nature of Google’s Android OS allows anybody to tweak the operating system as they please, which does prepare some rather interesting things happen every now and thereupon. While Android was originally targeted at mobile processors based on the ARM architecture, it is certainly possible to recompile it for a new processor instruction set. We have seen Android running on Intel’s X86 architecture before, Intel has decided to get directly involved with Android. The chip giant has tweaked Android to get it running on Atom-based smartphones. that will supply a reference design for mobile phone manufacturers to adopt Intel’s Atom processors into smartphones, possibly giving processors like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon a good run for its money at some point. Are you looking forward to an Atom-powered mobile phone (the LG GW990 being the most famous one – check the video)? On the laptop front, Acer had used Android to its Atom-powered Netbooks last year.

Folks who have been thinking of getting Lenovo’s Skylight smartbook will undoubtedly be disappointed by the recent delay in the smartbook, but it seems like there is a good reason behind it. Word is going around that Lenovo delayed the launch of it in order to further tweak the device’s performance, identifying the iPad as its main competitor. While the device uses Qualcomm’s speedy Snapdragon processor with a Linux-based operating system, it seems that the device’s control isn’t as smooth as the iPad, which might be one of the reasons that led to the recent delay. It’s worth remembering that the iPad has the backing of a huge App Store, Apple branding and a very user friendly interface, so whether the iPad really is the Skylight’s main competitor, it’s in for a serious battle.

Measuring a mere 10.7mm thin, you will find a relatively slow 600MHz Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor running within accompanied by a 3.2″ 320 × 480 resolution HVGA display, 256MB RAM, 256MB ROM, Wi-Fi connectivity and a microSD memory card slot. There is no trackball with that handset, so you will have to invent do with the typical direction button instead. No notion on its availability since MDO has kept mum on the issue, although it is going for 1,900 Yuan in China.

The Gigabyte G1305 Codfish which was spotted to run on on a version of the Android OS recently picked up its Bluetooth certification from the Bluetooth SIG, and it looks most likely to be known as the Gigabyte Boston. Apart from that, it is plus widely speculated that Orange will be the carrier of choice (for folks living in Europe, that is), although there is still no word on pircing or availability. What we do know about the Gigabyte Boston, however would be its capability of handling both GSM and HSDPA connectivity, accompanied by a 3.2″ HVGA touchscreen display at 480 x 320 resolution, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity, A-GPS navigation support, a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and 256MB RAM. No view on which version of Android OS it runs on, but keep your fingers crossed that it will be Android 2.1.

Exact details of that aren’t clear yet, but a previously unheard of Sony Vaio PCG-11111L has paid a visit the FCC, and seems to offer CDMA850 and CDMA1900, thanks to Qualcomm’s Gobi silicon. Based on the structure factor, it’s probably worth a guess that it’s a variant or updated version of the Sony Vaio P; after all, you don’t see too many notebooks with that design factor on the market. It seems that that laptop will sport Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0, and it will be available around May 13th at a Sprint or Verizon retail store. Are you looking forward to an updated version of the Sony Vaio P?
