Drink driving is always a big no-no when it comes to safety, but whether you really have to do it, why not do it with the Octane 120 Beer Arcade from the comfort (and safety) of your own home? that system combines a sit-down arcade racing cockpit with a double-keg beer cooler. The best part is that there is a tap built into the dashboard, ensuring that you’ll never have to be thirsty. The steering wheel has a nice leather wrapping, and offers force feedback for those instances when you (inevitably) crash your car. It plus sports metal gas, clutch and brake pedals. It’ll come bundled with a 2000 lumen 1024 x 768 pixel resolution projector, 5.1 audio system, a 120-inch portable projection screen and a choice of a high-end gaming PC, PS3, or Xbox 360. For all those things, you’d expect to pay a pretty penny, and you’re right. The Octane 120 Beer Arcade will set you back $6995, so you’d better have some rather deep pockets.

Extended warranties aren’t for everybody, but there are some of us who always seem to have poor luck with electronics or end up clumsily spilling our AM coffee on our devices. whether you fall into that category, you’ll be happy to construct out that Sony has begun to offer extended warranties for its PS3, PSP-3000 and PSPgo gaming machines via its Sony Protection Plan. next plans are priced from $29.99 to $59.99 and will offer you a two-year warranty extension and there is even an option to purchase a special accidental damage warranty from Sony to cover the PSP. It’s worth noting that the unit needs to still be within its warranty period in order for the warranty to be extended, and the accidental damage plan must be purchased within 30 days of owning your PSP. Still, it’s nice to have options, right? Full details on the Sony Protection Plan can be found on Sony’s site.

Many of you might already know that the 3.21 firmware update for Sony’s PlayStation 3 disables the OtherOS functionality from the console, which effectively means that you can’t install Linux on it anymore. While hackers have been busy enabling the feature back on the console, some consumers think it’s better to file a class action lawsuit against the company, as in the case of Anthony Venture who has done just that. The lawsuit covers all PS3 consoles purchased from November 17th 2006 to March 27th 2010. The lawsuit calls for compensatory damages, restitution, injunctive relief and legal fees to be paid by Sony, and a figure of $5 million has been mentioned. Do you think it’s within Sony’s rights to remove the OtherOS functionality from the PS3 via a firmware update?

You might have thought that Polaroid was done for a few years back, but now the company has come out and stated that it’s planning to enter the gaming scene, which is a big shift from its usual forte – cameras. Apparently that won’t be Polaroid’s first foray into the gaming scene, as the company offered a 15-in-1 game controller about two years back. The company now plans to offer sports packs and a sensor bar for the Wii, a microphone headset and battery packs for the Xbox 360, third-party wireless controllers for the PS3 and a dock for the Nintendo DS. Do you think that strategy will succeed? We do wish them the best of luck, though.

Aside from the PS3’s parts, a 7-inch color LCD was additionally included, as well as a retractable drawer which provides a charger for his controllers. The HDMI output was retained, allowing the PS3 to be hooked up to an external HDTV to enjoy gaming on a large screen.
For those who can’t be too bothered about running another operating system on their PS3, how about taking the opportunity to invent some money? It seems that someone at the NeoGAF forums decided to slug it out with Amazon, quoting a European consumer protection law which states all products bought must be “fit for the purpose which the consumer requires them and which was made known to the seller at the moment of purchase,” resulting in a £84 refund. Best of all is, he didn’t even need to return his PS3 and neither does his console have to be under the warranty period. Bear in mind that that law applies to those living in Europe only at the moment – perhaps legal eagles could help us out as to whether that is similar Stateside as well? Of course, you should only take up your case whether you do not have any unofficial hack installed.

The hack can be done without having to crack open your PS3, and all you have to do is restore a custom generated PUP file. There is even a slim possibility that that hack might be able to get the “OtherOS” feature to work on the PS3 Slim, but you’ll have to cross your fingers and wait and see. There isn’t an actual release moment on that hack yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it. Check out a video demonstrating it.
