Weta Workshop, the same folks behind props and production design of Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and District 9, have come up with such an appendage that lets you move around as though you were some sort of animal or insect. Known as the Weta Legs, these help you walk, run or jump without losing your balance while maintaining a creature-like gait. These legs can plus be incorporated within costumes and used to climb stairs. Of course, getting hold of such a pair might prove to be a pretty big hit to your bank history, since they retail for $945 a pair.

The $30 Moshi Moshi 01H handset lets you convert your iPad into an old-school telephone. Using Skype or some other VoIP software, you can manufacture and receive calls. Who needs an iPhone? Or dignity? (Props to BoingBoing)

The Apple iPad is reasonably priced. whether that bothers you, feel free to spend $19,999 on a diamond-studded iPad ("hand-set in a micro-pave styling," whatever that means). You'll feel like an idiot when the newer, faster iPad inevitably comes out within a year. (Props to Engadget)

Microsoft wants to use your flesh as an input device.

Microsoft researchers are working on something called "Skinput," which is the use of human skin as an input device. In that case, a display is projected on the arm. When the user taps, a computer analyzes the sound in the body (which varies according to bone density and other factors) to determine which button to push. The company plans to unveil all that in April. (Props)

Former Microsoft genius Nathan Myhrvold has invented a "Star Wars" anti-missile system for mosquitoes, which tracks them in flight and zaps them out of the air with a laser beam.
