RAmos’ latest T18 portable media player is pretty hard to tell from all of the other models, since they sport a pretty generic design. Still, the difference lies under the hood, where the T18 will come with a 7″ display while boasting 1080p video support as well as HDMI output, just in case you think that the 7″ display won’t do your downloaded full HD files any justice. Other features include H.264 codec support, compatibility with MTK, DAT, MPG, VOB, AVI, TS, M2TS, MP4, MOV, RM and RMVB video file formats as well as MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, OGG, APE, FLAC and M4A audio formats. Expect RAmos to throw the T18 into the market from the middle of that month onwards in China for 688 Yuan, where it will feature 8GB of internal memory.

Teclast has introduced its latest C520 portable media player which will be yet another full HD-capable device. You will be able to view your downloaded movies on its 5″ display, where it supports a wide range of codecs including VC-1, MKV, TS, AVI, RM, RMVB, 3GP, DAT, FLV, MP4, MPG, VOB, MKV and MOV videos. For those who are into music, expect that model to play nice with MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC and APE audio file formats. Strangely ample, there is no HDMI port to help that be a true blue full HD device, making it rather pointless to watch full HD movies on a small 5″ display.

The Cowon D3 has yet to be announced and released to the masses, but that has not stopped it from being the subject of rumors that it is powered by the Android operating system. Whatever the case is, we do hope that the use of an Android OS on that upcoming portable media player (if proven true) would not detract from the overall user experience, as it needs to be well executed in order to prove worthy of inclusion, and not just implemented haphazardly simply considering there are no license fees to fork out.

Lyumo is part of the iRiver group, where it has just rolled out a couple of 4GB portable media players in the style of the M31 Shining and M41 Revolve. The former as seen above comes with an integrated USB connector and supports both MP3 and WMA file formats, while the M41 Revolve sports a 1.7″ display alongside MP3 and WMA audio and AVI video file formats, while offering Microsoft PlayFX and PureBass capability as well. Sounds pretty cookie cutter, but 1.7″ of viewing real estate on a portable media player isn’t going to get anyone running to the store anytime soon we presume. Ah well, perhaps folks in Japan think differently, which is why it is being released in that part of the world.

Following the footsteps of the iPod nano, RAmos’ Q28cam portable media player comes with a built-in camera that ought to manufacture it a far more versatile portable photo frame – after all, you will be able to snap photos on the spot and share them with friends whom you’re meeting up with later. Of course, it won’t be a replacement for your digital camera anytime soon since it maxes out at 3-megapixels, but still, that’s better than nothing. Apart from taking stills, you can plus record 720p videos with it, encoded with H.264 in MP4 files. While there aren’t any other specifications revealed, that looks set to stand out from the standard fare we’re used to seeing.

Itoos wants to flood the portable media player market with yet another device from their stable, the M8HDP which is more than capable of handling full High Definition resolution, since it touts a purported 1280p support from its 5″ display at 800 x 480 resolution. As with many other traditional Chinese portable media players, that one is able to handle a plethora of codecs such as H.264, MPEG-2, VC-1, RM/RMVB, MKV, MOV, TS, AVI, MPG, M2TS, M4V, PMP, MP4, 3GP, VOB and DAT without lost a beat. Strangely ample, that model lacks a HDMI port which could be a sore point with interested parties. No notion on pricing or availability as at press moment though.

At one glance, you can tell that the MSI MT-V551 portable media player is pretty much similar to a device that most of us are familiar with – the iPod nano. Heck, it is based on a Rockchip chipset known as RKnano, but won’t offer iTunes support for obvious reasons. Meant for music playback primarily, it is equipped with a 1.5″ CSTN color display (which won’t work well under bright sunight), supporting MP3, WMA, WAV, APE and FLAC audio file formats. While it can additionally handle MPEG-4 videos, that is not something we would recommend considering of the screen size. Apart from that, you are additionally able to browse images as well as read TXT files, but at that screen size, you might ruin your eyes faster than you might think. No view on pricing or availability.

Another day, another portable media player to hit the market – that instance round it would be the ICOO E900P which boasts support for 1280p videos – yup, you read that right. Forget about full HD as the E900P ushers in an even higher resolution, eh? Too poor the drawback would be less storage space due to the larger file size. Features include a 5″ display at 800 × 480 resolution, USB on the go, support for popular audio and video codecs as well as a YPbPr port for video output. Funny how there is no HDMI port on that – what a shame!
