Porsche has come up with the 918 Spyder plug-in electric hybrid concept car which offers traditional rubber-burning performance without guzzling down a whole lot of fuel – we’re talking about hitting a whopping 78 miles per gallon (!), where it can travel up to 16 miles on electric charge alone. And just how fast do you think that puppy is? We’re talking about touching 0-60mph in all of 3.2 seconds – yes, you read that right. It does assemble you wonder how the 78mpg figure is reached with 500 horses residing underneath the hood though, so hopefully someone will be able to shed more light on such phenomenal returns.

The iPod Supreme is proud to be known as the most expensive iPod touch on earth, where there are only three models available. It might be a wee bit hard to find a buyer though considering it costs a whopping $233,000 each, where you get 149 grams of 22 carat gold with the trademark Apple logo made from 53 shiny VVS1, color F diamonds. On the outer section of the iPod touch lies 300 diamonds, while the main navigation button is adorned with a dozen diamonds that surround a restricted cut pink diamond of 2.1 carat. All three will come in a box made from white lacquered wood, with inners made from Porsche Nappa leather. Guess the economy is really recovering, eh – who do you think will pick that up? A Russian oil ogilarch, an Arab sheikh or some businessman from the Far East?

Weight is obviously one of the many enemies of fuel economy, and while folks who can afford Porsches generally shouldn’t have to anguish about fuel economy, it’s still interesting to see Porsche come out with a lithium-ion replacement main battery which weighs just 13 pounds, compared to the traditional 35 pound lead acid battery. It’ll set you back $1,700, which should be peanuts for Porsche owners. whether you happen to own the 2010 Porsche 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS and Boxster Spyder, you’ll be able to own that fancy car battery.
