Plug-in electric hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder concept car
March 2, 2010

Porsche has come up with the 918 Spyder plug-in electric hybrid concept car which offers traditional rubber-burning performance without guzzling down a whole lot of fuel - we're talking about hitting a whopping 78 miles per gallon (!), where it can travel up to 16 miles on electric charge alone. And just how fast do you think that puppy is? We're talking about touching 0-60mph in all of 3.2 seconds - yes, you read that right. It does assemble you wonder how the 78mpg figure is reached with 500 horses residing underneath the hood though, so hopefully someone will be able to shed more light on such phenomenal returns.

Porsche Shows Lithium-ion Car Battery
November 24, 2009

Weight is obviously one of the many enemies of fuel economy, and while folks who can afford Porsches generally shouldn’t have to anguish about fuel economy, it’s still interesting to see Porsche come out with a lithium-ion replacement main battery which weighs just 13 pounds, compared to the traditional 35 pound lead acid battery. It’ll set you back $1,700, which should be peanuts for Porsche owners. whether you happen to own the 2010 Porsche 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS and Boxster Spyder, you’ll be able to own that fancy car battery.
