March 10, 2010

Motion-Sim has rolled out its 4DOF racing simulator that offers pitch, roll, yaw and heave to what would deem to be perfection, coming with a harness of its own that will prevent you from flying ahead like a crash pop quiz dummy during the more intense in-game moments. Unfortunately, the 4DOF plays nice with PC sims only at the moment. that is definitely a rich man's toy since the home version will retail for €18,450. Heck, at that price point, we might as well buy a real car, eh?

Minebea Cool Leaf keyboard
March 3, 2010

Minebea's Cool Leaf keyboard plays on the design view that everything is as flat as an Ikea flat pack, leaving no gaps within the "keys". Rather unorthodox, but soon after again you won't need to anguish about having pizza crumbs fall amidst the keys during those late nights at the office, while there is sufficient backlight to have you typing away happily through the night. With its flat surface, cleaning the keyboard is additionally a snap, making certain everything remains spic and span at all times. We would miss the clickety clack of the regular keyboard though.

MiLi iPhone Projector
February 27, 2010

Strange to know that the MiLi iPhone Projector (which plays nice with newer iPods and the iPhone, so don't be fooled by the name) is a UK-only device, where it goes for £229 each. Why can't they just ship it by across the Atlantic for those who want one, we wonder? Anyways, we digress - that device does as it says, throwing up to a 70" image on a suitable viewing surface of any video or image slideshow that you are currently going through, boasting a battery life of 1.5 hours alongside the ability for it to hook up to other external video devices (as enlarged as they're compatible, that is). It has a fully adjustable focus and is additionally equipped with its own stand. Any takers?

Popcorn Tweets – entertainment and munchies go together
February 8, 2010

What's the point of watching a good movie without popcorn? That's the premise which the Popcorn Tweet plays on, relying on Lego's Mindstorm NXT as well as Labview software. It can be triggered via a #popcorn tweet, where the machine's motor is driven by a belt that turns an Archimedes' screw, which will in turn move a kernel of unpopped corn from the hopper to the popper. that is much slower than the traditional method of using a microwave, but it certain as heck is more fun! Definitely one of the less practical methods to get your popcorn, but it works.
