Many cell phone users out there don’t want a fancy cell phone, rather they’re looking for a basic phone that can just prepare and receive phone calls. With that in mind, British designer Jamie Lawrence has come up with the “Pebble” concept design, which aims to keep things simple. The design itself is sleek and doesn’t offer much, though you can slide it apart to reveal a touchscreen in the middle of the phone. In order to achieve simplicity, that design does away from all the multimedia capabilities, so you can forget about catching the upcoming Iron Man 2 movie on that.

Cloned handsets these days seem to get better and better, and the HTC Diamond2 clone that you see here certainly wins brownie points with us simply considering it is able to dual boot both the Android and Windows Mobile 6.5 operating systems. Granted, the 600MHz processor might not seem to pack abundant muscle, but it still comes with a WQVGA display that ought to please some quarters. No concept on whether that cloned handset is able to construct phone calls on both operating systems, so we will just have to wait until the real deal comes out before arriving at a conclusion.

We previously dug up some data hinting that the newly-announced Apple iPad might be capable of taking photos in the future, now it seems that there are additionally indications that the iPad might plus be able to prepare phone calls. Folks who have been fiddling with the new SDK have been able to get the “touch to return call” bar to seem on the iPad emulator, just like how it would seem on the iPhone (though obviously larger). So what does that mean? It’s hard to guess at the moment, but possibly the options are in place in the event Apple does decide to allow you to construct phone calls with the iPad? That would probably start the rumor mill churning again.

[CES 2010] Don’t just limit 3G technology to making video phone calls to your loved one on the latest handbag design that you are about to purchase – how about having some shield in mind with the D-Link 3G Door Phone? that device functions like a standard doorbell, but it offers the ability for you to check out your visitors in full even when you are away from home, as lengthy as you own a 3G-capable cellphone. Featuring an integrated 0.1-megapixel CMOS camera, that device will capture and stream the images of visitors to a computer or 3G handset, with the added advantage of an illuminated button to peek outside whenever it is dark. We do wish the resolution could be bumped up a notch though – 0.1-megapixels in that day and age just ain’t gonna cut it. It does resemble something which we’ve covered in the past though.

We all know that it’s really dangerous to send text messages or construct phone calls when you’re driving, so what about when you’re pushing a stroller? Texthook makes it easy for folks who are pushing a stroller to keep an eye on their mobile phone for updates and such. Users are obviously recommended to wait until the stroller is stationary before fiddling with the phone, but with the phone within easy reach, it’s easy to imagine humans taking their eye off the street and checking out a text info.
