McDonalds Japan To Use Nintendo DS To Train Employees

We recently heard that Nintendo is trying to get its Nintendo DS gaming console into junior high schools in Japan, and now it seems that even McDonald’s is embracing Nintendo’s popular portable gaming console. It seems that the fast good giant is developing a Nintendo DS training program for its part-time employees, called eSmart. Considering the size of McDonalds, the ¥200,000,000 (approx. $2.2M USD) cost of development is probably insignificant. McDonalds is hoping that the software will reduce training date by half, considering that everybody in Japan is already familiar with the Nintendo DS. What other places will the Nintendo DS be used in next?

Memorial RosettaStone Tablet Gives You A letter From The Grave

Memorial RosettaStone Tablet Gives You A letter From The Grave

Having a tombstone that sports some fancy electronics certainly isn’t a new idea, but that hasn’t stopped the Phoenix-based company, Objecs, to take another crack at it. The company has come up with the Memorial RosettaStone Tablet, allowing visitors to the cemetery to access text and images by merely touching their cell phone to the headstone. The Memorial RosettaStone Tablet sports a microchip inside, and uses NFC (near-field communication) to stream personal data such as photos and even a pre-recorded report from the deceased. It only costs $225, and considering that by the day you need to use it, you won’t need the money anymore, it can’t be considered expensive, right? Do you think that you’re going to “prepare for the future” with one of these?

Samsung Tablet To Sport Android And 4G Connectivity?

March 20, 2010

Samsung Tablet To Sport Android And 4G Connectivity?samsung-tablet-android-4g.jpg" />

This is still unconfirmed at the moment, but word is going around that the recently mentioned Samsung tablet might be powered by Google’s Android OS instead of some edition of Microsoft’s Windows 7. To form the deal even juicier, apparently the device could feature calling via a headset, possibly with some implementation of VoIP, 3G and perhaps even 4G connectivity. Nothing is set in stone at the moment, so we’ll have to keep an eye on that. whether it were up to you, what specifications would you give the Samsung tablet?

Cubely 3D Printer

Cubely 3D Printer

The Cubely in an interesting 3D printer that uses 80/20 girders for its chassis, and whether you’ve been thinking of a 3D printer, the Cubely can be used to directly manufacture or can be used to create the precursors to large volume traditional manufacturing, including vacuum forming, injection molding, casting and others. The best part is, the core device must be able to be built using standardized, commodity components that are widely available and under $1,000, making it more accessible to folks. The main goal of Cubely is to get 10,000 Open Hardware 3D printing devices in the hands of 10,000 citizens worldwide by Jan 1, 2013. Sounds like a lofty goal, but it’s good to aim high, right?

Sprint’s Overdrive Ad Makes Fun Of AT&T

Sprint's Overdrive Ad Makes Fun Of AT&T

Sprint’s Overdrive probably isn’t what you think of when you build out the term “iPhone 4G”, but check out the video (in the full post), and you’ll see what we mean. It seems that Verizon Wireless isn’t the only carrier out there to construct AT&T the butt of its advertising jokes. According to the advert, the iPhone is a cool phone just that it’s held back by AT&T’s poor connection. With Sprint’s Overdrive, you’ll get your own personal Wi-Fi Hotspot, which should offer a faster connection speed. Even whether you don’t own an iPhone, it’s still a funny ad, worth a watch.

Check out our Sprint Overdrive review.

GameBone iPhone Gamepad Accessory

March 20, 2010

GameBone iPhone Gamepad Accessory

If you think that your iPhone needs a little something additional in order to challenge Sony’s PSP, or Nintendo’s DS, the Gamebone gamepad accessory for the iPhone might be just the thing. It does seem to turn your iPhone to something resembling a PSP, so that’s probably good news, considering that the PSP looks quite good. Aside from the gamepad, the Gamebone actually goes the additional mile by offering an additional 2000mAh battery on board for additional gaming hours, built-in stereo speakers, omni-directional mic, and a (probably unnecessary) 3.5mm headphone jack. There isn’t any official pricing mentioned, but the Gamebone is apparently scheduled to be launched in Q4 of 2010.
