You may have heard of Prof. Hiroshi Ishiguro, the man who came up with the Geminoid, a robot that looks precisely like him. Now he’s back again with the Geminoid-F, which is a female robot. The robot is designed to imitate human facial expressions, and has been tested in hospitals, where patients apparently told the researchers that the robot’s smiling presence was reassuring. The robot will cost you a good 10 million Yen ($110,000), but whether you’re really into robots, that is certainly peanuts, compared to the cost of researching and building your own robot. Of course, the folks most likely to get one of these are the folks by at robotics research organizations (we hope). Check out a video of the Geminoid-F in action (not saving the world) after the jump.

Do you think that your ears deserve a little pampering? Well, Voxativ, a Berlin speaker manufacturer has partnered with German piano manufacturer, Schimmel Pianos, to come up with its latest full-range speakers, dubbed Ampeggio. The speakers combine the traditional horn shape with the rectangular-shaped front enclosure, covered in real piano lacquer. The speakers boast Voxativ’s biggest neodymium driver AC-3X with leather surrounds, and the sound is optimized by the driver and cabinet. Considering all the fancy stuff that has gone into that speaker, you shouldn’t be too surprised to see that it sports a price tag of $18,000 per pair. Such a price is probably just peanuts for you, right?

Weight is obviously one of the many enemies of fuel economy, and while folks who can afford Porsches generally shouldn’t have to anguish about fuel economy, it’s still interesting to see Porsche come out with a lithium-ion replacement main battery which weighs just 13 pounds, compared to the traditional 35 pound lead acid battery. It’ll set you back $1,700, which should be peanuts for Porsche owners. whether you happen to own the 2010 Porsche 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS and Boxster Spyder, you’ll be able to own that fancy car battery.
