Who would have thought that passion, knowledge and some spare Bioloid parts alongside an old school Nokia N82 handset could outcome in the Callo and Cally cellphone robots? Developed by PhD student Ji-Dong Yim and Prof Chris D. Shaw at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, Canada, these robots are capable of displaying emoticon-style facial expressions to let you know of their moods, while performing a variety of gestures including dancing whenever there is an incoming signal. It will rely on the Nokia N82′s camera to detect human faces, where it can thereupon imitate arm gestures via hand tracking. What are some of the more practical uses where you think Callo and Cally will work best?

Lunch.com connects citizens with similar interests via the proprietary “Similarity Engine” and provides them a platform to publish and share opinions and reviews about various topics.

Today, Lunch.com announced the release of “Communities on Lunch” a new feature that allows users to manage their own review websites on the Lunch domain, with a combination of their own substance and contributions from others. Anyone with a passion is able to become a community manager, using Lunch’s broad range of tools to create, choose and share the most valuable composition. substance creators can choose from ratings, reviews, wikis, lists, and Twitter-length micro reviews to express their opinions and share their advices. The community manager can set a simple editorial guideline by providing review templates to the community members to ensure consistency of composition.

We have private beta invites, check the complete essay.

Talk about being a true blue fan of the sci-fi series Dr. Who – Rob Bosher managed to put his moment and energy to good use (subjective though) with a full-size Dalek replica. that DIY project cost him around £700, where it is made from wood and some scrap. At its base is an electric wheelchair to help it get around, while he controls it via a joystick. Apart from that, that monster comes with a voice modulator to resemble the trademark croaky Dalek voice. A magic eight ball represents its eyes accompanied by working lights for added effect. Now that is what we signal passion.

This is still firmly in the “rumor” bin, but it does sound interesting, so we brought it up. The Google phone that we mentioned a little while back has the codename “Passion”, which might indicate the HTC Passion. There’s supposedly an expected launch in the first 2 weeks of January (which is just around the corner). The rumor plus indicated that the phone will be available on T-Mobile’s network, which would probably be good news for folks who are on T-Mobile’s network. There’s additionally mention of a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 4.3-inch multitouch display. Do you think that there is any substance in that rumor? There’s no way of confirming that just yet, but keep your ears peeled for more info!
