Mitsubishi And Pioneer Partner To Produce OLED Lighting Panels

Mitsubishi Chemical and Pioneer look like they’re placing a lot of importance on printable OLED lighting, as they’ve both formed a strategic partnership and plan to start full-scale mass production with a launch of illumination appliances in 2011. They plan to start off with a 14cm square lighting panel, which is currently the world’s largest mass production OLED lighting panel, and the panels will be produced with printable gap injecting material (HIM) and new emitting materials. Concept: Draw The Lights On Your Ceiling

Now here’s a rather interesting take on ceiling lights. Instead of having the usual boring old light bulbs, why not convert your whole ceiling to a landscape of color LEDs, all of which can be controlled by you via a “light brush”. With that, you’ll be able to create patches of light in the ceiling, of draw all sorts of interesting things on your ceiling. It’d probably give your partner a warm fuzzy feeling to come home to a house with “I Love You” written on the ceiling or something like that. Too poor it’s still a concept design, huh?

It retails for $25 a pop and plays nice with all Kindle models, and even other ebook readers (including those from Sony). Guess the rumored Apple tablet won't need that as chances are it will come with a backlight - at the expense of battery life, of course.

Nexus One Coming To Vodafone In A Few Weeks

While all the news is about T-Mobile getting Google’s Nexus One phone, let’s not forget that Vodafone will additionally be getting the phone. A Vodafone spokeswoman has additionally confirmed that the carrier will be offering the phone in Europe, starting from the UK. Pricing and info haven’t been revealed by Vodafone just yet, but we certainly hope it will be fair. The spokeswoman from Vodafone has stated:
"I can confirm that Vodafone is the first operator to partner with Google to offer the Nexus One in Europe, starting soon in the UK, in a few short weeks. No detail on pricing and precise timing has yet been made, but that will come in a few weeks."
On a side note, it seems that O2 has no plans to stock the Nexus One yet, so that might be a good opportunity for Vodafone.
