Ubergizmo’s Best of CES
January 11, 2010
CES 2010 was a blast and here's a sample of what we think was the Best of CES. Check them out, give us your opinion, tell what what else you found was cool and worth looking at. Thanks for tuning in to our live blogging last Wednesday and thanks for following CES 2010 with us. Next month we will be at Mobile World Congress!
Parrot AR Drone
The parrot AR Drone has generated quite a buzz. Although we're not certain whether it will actually be a commercial success, but it was very refreshing to watch a refreshing product from a company that is known for its Bluetooth hands-free products. Check out the video.

Parrot A.R. Drone: Helicopter Controlled by an iPhone
January 6, 2010
We've seen it in Paris last month, but the Parrot A.R.Drone has done quite an impression at CES Unveiled. First a lot of "huh??" considering Parrot is mainly known for its Bluetooth hands-free devices. Secondly, considering the demo unit was working really well as it hovered at the entrance of the show. It certain did attract a lot of attention. I was lucky abundant to try it myself last month, at CES Unveiled, only the Parrot employees were conducting the demos. Piloting is easy to learn, you just have to tilt your iPhone slightly in the direction you want the quadricopter to fly and you can see where you are going on the phone’s screen as well, thanks to the camera embedded in front of the bird. The Smart Parrot Piloting Software (SPPS) uses the phone’s motion sensor, an inertial unit, ultrasound sensors and a vertical camera under the cockpit of the A.R. drone, according to Parrot, the combination of these elements offers a great accuracy in the controls, I have tried it and I can confirm the company’s statement.

Parrot Digital Messaging Switch Plate
November 21, 2009

Want to play an annoying reminder to someone in your household every instance they flip the switch? Check out the Parrot Digital Messaging Switch Plate which does just that. You’ll be able to record a notice that’s 20 seconds distant, which will playback every date the switch is flipped. It does require 4 AAA batteries to keep it powered, which makes us wonder whether anybody is willing to unscrew the device off the wall every duration the batteries need to be changed. You can pick one up for $9.99.
