The Olympus PEN EP-2 has just gotten behind a dark cloud, simply considering it now comes with a silver lining. Heh, pardon the poor pun, but at least silver is a much brighter option compared to traditional black. The new color is the only cosmetic change, since everything else within remains the same as the standard drab black-colored Olympus PEN EP-2, where it will reach at shops in Europe from the middle of that month onwards together with a M.Zuiko Digitial ED 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens for €799. Do color choices in a digital camera really influence your purchase decision?

One of the most common criticisms of the Olympus E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 cameras will have to be their autofocus (AF) speeds, and it seems that Olympus has taken the moment to try and sort that issue out, via a new firmware update. As mentioned, the updated firmware will increase the AF speeds for these models by a minimum of 15%, regardless of the lens you’re using. whether you own any of the above cameras and are frustrated with the autofocus speeds, that firmware update might be what you’ve been screaming for all that while.

Folks who use Micro Four Thirds cameras, like the Olympus PEN E-PL1, don’t have as many lenses to choose from when compared to those who tout DSLR cameras, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t exciting lenses for them. The US-based company, Noktor, has announced its HyperPrime 50mm f0.95 lens for said camera format. Considering that f0.95 is more than a stop faster than f1.4, you’re going to get some insanely shallow depth of field. whether you’re already drooling by it, you can start saving your pennies now, and prepare to pick it up when it goes on sale in April for $750. Who said folks who use the Micro Four Thirds format don’t get as much fun, eh?

The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is not the figment of anyone’s imagination – it is as real as you and I, where it aims to offer DSLR-like performance in a rather slim and sleek package. that 12-megapixel shooter is a budget Micro Four Thirds device that boasts High Definition video recording and interchangeable lens to get even the awkward beginner off on the right footing. Forking out $599 for that will come with the 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens that additionally graced the E-P1 kit. You can’t just rush out and pick one up from a store, since the Olympus PEN E-PL1 will reach sometime next month.
