Who would have thought that passion, knowledge and some spare Bioloid parts alongside an old school Nokia N82 handset could outcome in the Callo and Cally cellphone robots? Developed by PhD student Ji-Dong Yim and Prof Chris D. Shaw at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, Canada, these robots are capable of displaying emoticon-style facial expressions to let you know of their moods, while performing a variety of gestures including dancing whenever there is an incoming signal. It will rely on the Nokia N82′s camera to detect human faces, where it can thereupon imitate arm gestures via hand tracking. What are some of the more practical uses where you think Callo and Cally will work best?

Chinavasion has a knack for offering generic gadgets at a pocket friendly price to those who are on a tight budget, and their latest release would be the Video Eyeglasses that retail for $135 a pop, offering up to 40″ of virtual display in QVGA (320 x 240) resolution. Apart from that, it plus comes with a pre-loaded media player and 2GB of internal memory for you to fill up. Supported file formats are pretty wide ranging, including DivX, XviD, MPEG2, AVI, MP3, and FLAC, while you can plus keep yourself entertained with old school NES ROMs when the going gets boring. If this DSLR concept ever becomes a reality, you can be certain that it’ll manufacture your camera look much more different from the usual stuff that humans have. Designed by Ryan David Francis, it’s a redesigned DSLR concept, and seems to place a bit more emphasis on old-school shooters who use the viewfinder more than the LCD. that influence is evident when you notice the tilted LCD display, which provides more space for your nose when your eye is pressed against the viewfinder, helping you limit the amount of grease stains that you’ll get on the LCD. You wouldn’t really expect to see a Sony DSLR like that show up at retail stores anytime soon, though.

Why not pull all stops and manufacture certain your newly purchased iPad will remain safe and sound with the iPad safety measure Case? that device features and old school number combination lock that prevents others from physically accessing your iPad without your permission. Syracuse University Industrial Design students came up with the concept of envelopes made from printed Google Maps. The concept isn't a real product, and Google isn't involved. But the concept is interesting. The mailing address on the mailing address points to its location on the map. Although Google isn't likely to do that, you could. Simply print out the maps and address, and glue the envelope together old school.

The new EA Sports Active 2.0 system will be available for the Wii, PS3, and iPhone when it launches. The system has a wireless control, arm and leg straps that sent knowledge to the app about your workout.

Apple has reportedly pushed out the fourth beta offering in the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK. The new version is said to be for development only and can’t be used for submitting apps.
