Street Fighter on iPhone, EA Sports Active 2.0, Beta 4 of OS 3.2 SDK surfaces

If you are a fan of old school horizontal fighters, Street Fighter IV is now on the iPhone. The game can be had for about $10 and there is no free trial version offered.
The new EA Sports Active 2.0 system will be available for the Wii, PS3, and iPhone when it launches. The system has a wireless control, arm and leg straps that sent knowledge to the app about your workout.
Apple has reportedly pushed out the fourth beta offering in the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK. The new version is said to be for development only and can’t be used for submitting apps.

Buffalo USB Nintendo PC Game Pad

At first glance, that looks like an old school NES game pad, but upon closer inspection, you won't find any Nintendo logo on that, but the word Buffalo emblazoned on the top right hand corner of the device instead. While the world has already moved on to USB 3.0, the Buffalo USB Nintendo PC Game Pad still remains in the past with a USB 1.1 connection, but that shouldn't matter since all you're going to do is mash buttons like there is no tomorrow. Perfect for shoot 'em ups, it boasts a classic Turbo button for well rested thumbs as you cut a path of destruction with your aeroplane. Would you fork out $22 for a piece of retro memory?

doomBox brings back old school gaming

Folks who started gaming with iD Software's Doom will definitely have fond memories of that bad-ass marine, particularly with the blood flowing out of his helmet upon his death. Well, JJ decided to bring the classic gaming title back home with the DIY doomBox - using a chassis of an unwanted Kodak DC290 camera, running on the Digita OS alongside an existing Doom port. JJ additionally came up with his own button board, relying on the traditional keyboard setup with corresponding keys for a more comfortable gaming experience. Good luck circle strafing a Cyberdemon with that configuration sans mouse though.

iPhone gets real controller in the structure of iControlPad

So you're into touchscreen gaming, but there are still many others out there who feel that an old school controller would work better with some games on the iPhone. Enter the iControlPad which will finally enter the mass production stage, where one gets a quartet of buttons, two analog sticks as well as a D-Pad for you to pull off those zany moves in the upcoming Street Fighter IV title for the platform. One specific model even comes with an internal battery that will supply additional juice for your iPhone when you need it. There is one drawback though - your iPhone will need to be jailbroken beforehand whether you want the iControlPad to work with it.

Shape recognition to come on iMac screen?

This Apple patent application involves something radically different, where it shows off an old-school iMac with a touchscreen display. Dubbed "Shape Detecting Input Device", it was originally submitted a good half dozen years ago, with a continuation rolling out today. The more contemporary proposal involves a touchscreen display that not only functions as a pointer/input device, but additionally doubles up as a shape recognition device which will replace the key/lock system. Imagine someone placing a specially imprinted object on the display in order to verify one's identity - now that's pretty interesting. Of course, having that specific object stolen or lost could thereupon prove hazardrous, but we're certain other failsafe mechanisms in the system are in store including the traditional password desire.

Apple removes some adult apps, Photoshop 1.0 for iPhone, video calling in 3.2 SDK

Apple has removed some adult apps that have had complaints from users. Among the apps removed were one that animates parts of public in pictures and one for a porn star's fans.

Photoshop is one of the most popular photo editing applications around. A version of the app is already on the App Store, but those wanting old school Photoshop 1.0 can now get the app as well.
A new feature for the iPhone and iPad is rumored to be coming in the 3.2 SDK. The new feature is video calling, but since the iPhone lacks a front camera and the iPad has no camera, the feature would need new hardware.
