Folks living in Germany and still have faith that Palm won’t go bust as a company anytime soon might be pleased to note that the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus will be arriving on O2 and Vodafone Germany when April 28th rolls around. There is still no word on pricing as at press day, but your guess is as good as ours concerning the subsidy which both smartphones will come with, and we won’t be surprised to know that the Pixi might end up as a free phone whether you decide to settle on a contract that includes mobile input. Steve Jobs has made it clear that those who buy the iPad in April won’t be able to tether the device to the iPhone for 3G connectivity. That is hardly a surprise considering the iPhone still can’t tether to laptops in the US.

O2 has listed video calling fees for the iPhone according to remotes. Video calls in the UK are 20p per minute and have added to rumors that the next iPhone will support video calling.

With the announcement of the Apple tablet most likely a week away, more details of the device are slowly surfacing. Now it seems that Apple is in talks with mobile phone operators in the UK. Apparently the tablet will not be an exclusive item, unlike the iPhone when it was originally launched. Since Apple is partnering with operators, it seems that the device will sport 3G connectivity, and will come bundled with broadband contracts. The poor news is that the estimated price of the device might be a tad high at £800, though that isn’t an official figure just yet. The operators that are mentioned to be working out a deal for that device are Orange, O2 and plus Vodafone.

While all the news is about T-Mobile getting Google’s Nexus One phone, let’s not forget that Vodafone will additionally be getting the phone. A Vodafone spokeswoman has additionally confirmed that the carrier will be offering the phone in Europe, starting from the UK. Pricing and info haven’t been revealed by Vodafone just yet, but we certainly hope it will be fair. The spokeswoman from Vodafone has stated:

“I can confirm that Vodafone is the first operator to partner with Google to offer the Nexus One in Europe, starting soon in the UK, in a few short weeks. No detail on pricing and precise timing has yet been made, but that will come in a few weeks.”

On a side note, it seems that O2 has no plans to stock the Nexus One yet, so that might be a good opportunity for Vodafone.

We have had no word about the Cowon V5 HD player, but here it is now. Apparently, a YouTube video was uploaded that advertised the Cowon V5, although it was removed shortly afterwards presumably after the folks at Cowon filed a complaint. From the video, it seems as though the V5 is more or less similar to the O2, supporting 720p videos in the process. Apart from that, we know next to nothing about the mysterious Cowon V5, so stay tuned.
